Warrants and Fugitive Apprehension Unit Arrest- DEVIN FRANKLIN

EL PASO, TEXAS – On July 25th,2024, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Warrants and Fugitive Apprehension Unit (FAU), working in conjunction with Adams County Sheriff’s Office, investigated the whereabouts of 30-year-old Devin Franklin. Franklin was a fugitive from justice wanted for Homicide in Colorado. FAU Deputies located Franklin at the 1600 block of Horizon in El Paso County, TX. He was taken into custody without incident. Franklin was booked into the El Paso County Jail with no bond.

EL PASO, TEXAS – Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc., distributes fugitives wanted by the El Paso Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office every week through the Most Wanted feature.  The attached fugitives are individuals, where attempts in locating them for one reason or another have been unsuccessful.  The agencies submit these fugitives to Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc., which distributes them to the news media and offers the use of the Crime Stoppers hotline for information regarding the whereabouts of these fugitives.  Anyone with information on the location of any of these fugitives should call Crime Stoppers of El Paso immediately at (915) 566-8477 (TIPS), or submit the information on-line at www.crimestoppersofelpaso.org.  You will remain anonymous, and if your tip leads to an arrest, you can qualify for a cash reward.  Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc., is a non-profit organization that brings together the community, law enforcement, and the media to solve crime.

Motor Vehicle Accident with Serious Bodily Injury

EL PASO, TEXAS –  On July 25, 2024 at approximately 12:40 am., El Paso County Sheriff's Office Special Traffic Investigators were dispatched to mile marker 19 Loop 375 in reference to a single motorcycle crash with serious injuries. The investigation revealed the Driver was traveling eastbound on Loop 375. The Driver was transported to a local hospital. The investigation presently is ongoing. No additional details are available at the moment. The Roadway has already been opened up.

The Crisis Intervention Team meets with foreign dignitaries to discuss mental health challenges in the El Paso region

EL PASO, TEXAS – On July 18, 2024, Araceli Mccoy, Executive Director for the El Paso Council for International Visitors, reached out to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) to discuss mental health challenges faced by law enforcement officers in the El Paso region. CIT deputies met with Ms. McCoy and foreign dignitaries from various countries such as Germany, China, and India to discuss CIT’s methods, procedures, and the extensive training CIT deputies receive to handle mental health-related calls properly. The information provided by CIT deputies provided an inside look at how law enforcement and EHN Mental Health Clinicians collaborate to de-escalate mental health-related calls. The methods and procedures utilized by the El Paso County Sheriff’s CIT will serve as a blueprint for foreign countries to utilize in their methods of collaborating law enforcement and mental health services in their countries.

Injury to a Child, Elderly Individual, or Disabled Individual. Andrew Martinez

EL PASO, TEXAS – On June 24, 2024 at approximately 1833 hours, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to the Northwest Patrol Station responded to the intersection of De Alva Drive and Clipper Road located in Canutillo, Texas, in reference to theft information. Upon arrival, deputies met with the victim, who directed them to the location of the offender. Once contact was made with the offender, deputies began to look into the initial complaint. The offender was found to have an outstanding criminal warrant from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office for Injury to a Child, Elderly Individual, or Disabled Individual, as well as two additional traffic warrants. Deputies also located a reported stolen motorcycle on the scene. Subsequently, the scene was released to the Anthony Police Department, which was the original investigating agency on the theft case.  The offender, identified as 28-year-old Andrew Martinez, was processed and confined to the El Paso County Downtown Detention Facility under a $20,800 bond for Injury to a Child, Elderly Individual, or Disabled Individual and two additional traffic warrants.

NEWS RELEASE- Motorist Accident 7.23.2024

EL PASO, TEXAS – On 7-23-24 at approximately 0815 hours, Peter J Herrera Patrol Station Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Las Pompas and Zacatal in El Paso County Texas in reference to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. The victim was taken to Del Sol Medical Center for further medical evaluation. Special Traffic Investigators and the Crime Scene Unit were requested on the scene and took over the investigation. The intersection will be closed off until the investigation is completed.

NEWS RELEASE- BACK TO SCHOOL BACKPACK GIVEAWAY 7.20.24

EL PASO, TEXAS – For the past 15 years, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Community Service Section has maintained a valuable partnership with Operation Hope, a nonprofit organization that supports underprivileged students in the local community. This partnership has resulted in numerous successful events and initiatives aimed at providing much-needed resources and support to students in need. One such event, held on July 20th, 2024, was particularly memorable as several organizations and businesses rallied together to donate 250 backpacks filled with essential school supplies. The event took place at the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters. Starting at 9:00 am, the event was met with enthusiasm and gratitude from all those in attendance. Students and their families were able to select backpacks that best suited their needs, ensuring that each individual felt supported and empowered as they prepared for the upcoming school year. The joy and relief on the faces of these students and their families were truly heartwarming.

The collaborative effort of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, Operation Hope, and the various community partners involved was truly inspiring. Their dedication and support exemplified the power of coming together to make a positive impact in the lives of others. By providing students with the tools they need to succeed academically, this event not only alleviated financial burdens for families but also instilled a sense of hope and encouragement for a brighter future.

Texas Tech University students visit El Paso County Sheriff's Office Northwest Patrol Station

EL PASO, TEXAS On July 16, 2024, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies from the Northwest Patrol Station had a visit from medical and dental students of Texas Tech University. As part of their program, the students must visit local law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and first responders to get an idea of the type of calls we answer, especially medical-related calls. During the visit, the students had the opportunity to explore the sub-station, learn about the daily operations of the patrol office, and engage in discussions with deputies. The students were informed of the challenges and responsibilities in their commitment to maintaining public safety.

VIN ETCHING & CHILD FINGERPRINT EVENT 7.13.24

EL PASO, TEXAS – On July 13, 2024, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Peter John Herrera Patrol Station, Constables Office Pct.6, and Horizon Police Department collaborated with the El Paso Police Department Auto Theft Task Force to organize and manage a Vehicle Theft Prevention/Free VIN Etching Event at the Walmart Supercenter located at 13900 Horizon Blvd.

Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) etching is the procedure in which the unique identification number of a vehicle is permanently engraved onto its window surface. This process typically requires approximately 15 minutes to complete. Additionally, law enforcement officers provided complimentary child fingerprinting services to the residents of Horizon and neighboring communities.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office provides these events to give back to the community and assist parents in finding solace in the event of a missing child.
