UPDATE - MURDER INVESTIGATION

El Paso, Texas – On July 15, 2021 The Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit adopted a Homicide case from the San Elizario City Marshalls Office. The major Crimes Unit was requested to respond to the 1200 block of Las Pampas Rd. San Elizario, Texas where 55 year old Francisco Chavez was discovered unresponsive as a result of a gunshot wound. Mr. Chavez was transported to a local are Hospital when he died as a result of his injury.
UPDATE: Through the course of the investigation Detectives identified 55 year old Pedro Nunez as the person responsible for the death of Mr. Chavez.
On July 28, 2021 Pedro Nunez was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Detention facility under a 1 million dollar bond. Nunez was charged with Murder.

El Paso, Texas – On 07/25/2021, Zackary Ethan White absconded from the El Paso Multi Use Facility located at 1700 Horizon El Paso TX 79928. He absconded by walking out of the facility and his whereabouts are now unknown. He is now wanted on a Parole Violation and an additional charge of Sex Offenders Duty to Register is forthcoming. His sex offense is for Sexual Assault of a Child, the victim being a 15 year old female and is currently on parole for Sex Offenders Duty to Register Life/Annually.

El Paso, Texas – On 07/28/2021, a few minutes past midnight El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies received information of a possible intoxicated driver in a Krispy Kream truck which had collided with another driver and fled the scene near S. Darrington and Rudi Kuefner. Sheriff’s Office Dispatch advised deputies that EPPD had reports of a Krispy Kream truck being stolen on of the Westside of El Paso.
At approximately 0123 hrs., an additional call was received from the 700 block of N. Fabens Rd., in reference to a possible intoxicated driver in a Krispy Kream truck that had burglarized a 7-11 Convenience store. The 7-11 at this location was already closed at this time. The truck was used to gain entry into the 7-11. The vehicle left the scene, and proceeded northbound on N. Fabens. Sheriff’s Units searched the area, and eventually the vehicle was seen near I-10 Westbound and at Eastlake on-ramp at approximately 0142 hrs. Sheriff’s Office Units attempted to stop the vehicle be he refused to stop. At this time a license plate was confirmed.
Information was forwarded to EPPD, who through a series of events, were able to take into custody the Offender/Andrade, Carlos Emmanuel. Through the cooperative efforts of EPPD and EPCSO the offender was positively identified. A warrant for Burglary of Building was signed by a magistrate.

El Paso, Texas – On Saturday July 24, 2021 The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Community Services Division assisted Angel Gomez Operation H.O.P.E. in the Annual Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway. Event was held at the El Paso County Sheriff’s Department Northwest Patrol Station at 3435 Vinton Rd. Vinton, TX 79821. This successful and well attended project was prepared with more than 500 backpacks and School Supplies for the children. Additionally, food was distributed in this contactless drive-through event to the families in the El Paso County Community. The event gives families relief from these struggling times.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ARREST- SOTO

El Paso, Texas – On 07/13/2021 El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to aggravated assault with a weapon in an unknown location in the desert area near Agua Dulce Park located on the 15000 block of Kentwood in El Paso County, Texas. The assailant, identified as Pablo Soto, 32, had assaulted another male subject with a baseball bat and damaged his vehicle.
Soto, was later taken into custody for this offense and additional outstanding criminal warrants. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail under a $33,500 bond.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE RESPOND TO SHOOTING INCIDENT BEHIND SOCORRO ACTIVITIES COMPLEX
July 23, 2021
El Paso, Texas – On 07/11/2021 at 0318 hrs. Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 1300 Joe Battle (Student Activity Complex) El Paso County Texas, reference to an aggravated assault shots fired call. Upon the officers arrival they were informed that 3 to 4 persons had been shot and transported to local area hospitals while attending a party in the desert area. The Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded and assumed the investigation. As a result of this shooting incident a total of three people had received gunshot injuries and one person lost his life.
This case is being investigated as a Homicide, The Sheriff’s Office is requesting that anyone who may have witnessed this incident or may have any information contact the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office at (915) 832-4408 or major Crimes Detective Victor Cordero (915) 208-3007.

El Paso, Texas – On 07/20/2021 El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Montana Patrol Station Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the block of 3800 Vista Del Este, El Paso County Texas on a White 2014 Dodge Ram displaying Texas plates. The vehicle had construction materials (11 sheets of plywood) in the back of the truck. The driver and passenger provided conflicting stories to the deputies as to how they came in possession of the materials. It was determined via further investigation that the materials were taken from a property under construction in the El Paso County.
The driver who was identified as Valenzuela, Adrian was arrested for one Criminal Warrant for theft of property with a bond set at $15,000.00. Furthermore, one-out of County Warrant from Colorado State for theft with a bond set at $50,000.00. The passenger who was identified as Perez, Pedro was arrested for one Socorro City, Criminal warrant for Criminal Mischief with a bond set at $2,500.00.
Both driver and passenger were booked into County Jail. The case is still under investigation and pending additional charges.

El Paso, Texas – On July 20th, the Horizon City Police and the El Paso County Animal Welfare Department was dispatched to Ascencion and Temperance in reference to an abandoned canine. The canine was abandoned on the side of the roadway and a witness at the scene provided the video that is currently begin shared on social media, the canine is in good health and has been placed with a local animal rescue stakeholder. The Sheriff’s Office detective assigned to the Animal Cruelty Unit is currently assigned the case for investigation and we will provide additional information as it becomes available.

El Paso, TX – On 07-19-21 at 1125 hrs Deputies with El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Warrants and Fugitive Apprehension Section conducted an investigation at the 8500 block of Delfina, El Paso County TX in an attempt to locate wanted subject/OFFENDER/Gonzalez, Edgar, who had an outstanding warrant out of the District Clerks Office for 2 counts Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon. Deputies approached and made contact with subject at the residence. Deputies obtained information that Gonzalez was within the residence and made entry. Deputies made contact with Gonzalez and was taken into custody with no incident. Gonzalez was featured in EPCSO most wanted back in September 18 2020. Gonzalez was booked into the El Paso County Jail for his outstanding warrant

El Paso, TX – On Tuesday, July 13th, 2021 El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies from the Peter J Herrera Patrol Station held their briefing in Risinger Park, located in Fabens, Texas. The shift supervisor provided information on recent crime trends and deployment strategies for the day. It is part of the continued commitment to community engagement and the reduction of crime. The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the community to please lock their vehicles to prevent valuables from being stolen and warn the community of ongoing phone scams.

El Paso, TX – El Paso County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 500 Talbot in reference to a tree which had fallen onto a mobile home due to the severe thunderstorm in the area which caused extensive damage and flooding. The mobile home damage was severe enough to displace the family. Sheriff’s Deputies contacted the Red Cross which were able to find them a place to stay a couple of nights. The family of 3 are currently staying with family members but are asking for help. They are in need to food, clothing and monetary donations in order to help them get their home fixed. News Release: Texas Tech University Medical Students Meeting w/Deputies

On Tuesday July 13th, 2021 Sheriff's Office Deputy Juan R. Garcia and Deputy Jorge Alvillar held a meeting with medical and dental students at the Northwest Patrol Station. The students are from the Texas Tech University Health and Sciences Center in El Paso, and as part of their program they are required to visit local law enforcement agencies, fire departments and first responders to learn the type of calls the office responds to, especially medical related calls. The students were encourage to ask questions, they did have questions in regards to the history, size and structure of The Sheriff's Office. Students were also interested in knowing the cultural diversity of the area that patrol covers, the economic levels of the community and how COVID has affected the way calls were handled. The students were informed on the working partnership between other agencies for example, local fire departments, medical first responders and the protocols that are followed in medical emergency calls. The students were very grateful for the information they obtained saying it was very helpful in understanding the needs of the community since they will be serving in the future as doctors.

ARREST - TRUE VALUE HARDWARE STORE THEFT

El Paso, TX – On Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at approximately 1100 hours, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to the Northwest Patrol Station were dispatched to 7300 block of Doniphan Dr. in Canutillo, Texas in reference to a theft at True Value Hardware store.
When Deputies arrived, they met with REPORTER/Store Manager who stated the OFFENDER/Castaneda, Gabriella Tomi had taken money from the VICTIM/True Value Hardware Store. The REPORTER informed deputies the total amount taken from the VICTIM was Four hundred and fifty dollars and two cents from the cashier register ($450.02).
Through the course of the investigation, Detectives worked up a warrant of arrest for /Offender Castaneda for Theft of Property >=$100 <$750 with a bond of $1,500.00.
On 07/07/2021 Detectives, and Deputies assigned to the TRU Team located and arrested the Offender at the 100 block of Washington St. in Anthony, El Paso County, Texas. The Offender was subsequently booked into the El Paso County Jail.

Implementation of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Property Tax Foreclosure Auction Site

El Paso, TX – Sheriff Richard Wiles is pleased to announce the implementation of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Property Tax Foreclosure Auction Site. The Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with El Paso County Administration, El Paso County Auditor’s Office, City of El Paso Tax Office and Realauction.com, created a website to facilitate the online sale of real property based on tax foreclosures. Pursuant to Texas Tax Code 34.01 and 34.05 and after approval by El Paso County Commissioner’s Court and Sheriff Wiles, the Sheriff’s Office will sell real property online beginning August 3, 2021. Properties offered for sale are those that are delinquent in payment of property taxes. The City of El Paso Tax Office is responsible for the collection of taxes for the taxing entities in El Paso County. The Sheriff’s Office works in conjunction with the City Tax Office and the Delgado Acosta Spencer Linebarger and Perez Law Firm.
The website is now live and can be visited by clicking on the link below. Prospective bidders should access the site and register for training and access. Bidders will need to register and establish an account prior to participating in the auction.
Previously, the Sheriff’s Office conducted these sales in person at the El Paso County Courthouse. When the COVID 19 pandemic began, sales were moved to Liberty Hall and then to the County Coliseum.
The Sheriff’s Office will have a preview of the website operations, conducted by the Sheriff’s Office and Realauction.com on Tuesday July 20th 2021, at 12:45 pm, at the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Training Academy located at 12501 Montana, El Paso Texas. Virtual training session begins at 1:00 pm.

El Paso, TX – On 07-09-2021 at approximately 0805 hrs. El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Warrants & Fugitive Apprehension Unit arrived at the 2300 block of Magoffin in El Paso, TX in reference to locating a wanted Most Wanted felon.
Subject Bustamante, David was previously featured on the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Most Wanted list. Deputies gathered intelligence from neighbors and concluded that Bustamante was located inside the residence.
The Deputies announced themselves and attempted to make contact for several minutes but Bustamante refused to come out. After further investigation and persistence, Bustamante finally walked out the front door. Deputies were able to take Bustamante into custody safely. Bustamante was transported to the El Paso County Jail and booked without incident. The Charges are listed below.
