391670283_713282714172827_3352589259890148092_n

EL PASO, TX - On Saturday, March 23, 2024, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office received a unanimous vote for Advance Re-Accreditation. It was designated as a “Meritorious” Agency by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Inc. was created in 1979 as a credentialing authority through the joint efforts of law enforcement’s significant executive associations. The Sheriff’s Office received its eighth re-accreditation at the CALEA conference in Montgomery, Alabama. To receive accreditation, the Sheriff’s Office must follow CALEA's best practices, policies, and standards. Accreditation is department-wide since it entails monitoring agency performance, annual CALEA assessments, and on-site assessments. Receiving accreditation helps improve inter-agency communication, enhances crime prevention, strengthens management procedures, and, most importantly, establishes transparency. The re-accreditation demonstrates our continuous commitment to professional excellence.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has been CALEA-accredited since March 2001.
