El Paso, Texas – On June 18, 2021, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a hospital located on the 13400 block of Gateway West Blvd. in reference to a dog being abandoned at the facility.
Hospital staff advised deputies an unknown woman brought the dog into the waiting area claiming there was an obstruction in the dogs’ throat. The woman then returned to her vehicle in a hurry and drove off in her blue passenger vehicle.
The canine was in good health and there was no obstruction.

RELEASE: HUECO TANKS RESCUE
On Friday, June 18, 2021, at approximately 1:30 pm, the El Paso County Search and Rescue team was dispatched to Hueco Tanks in reference to an injured individual.
Upon arrival, the team located an 30-year-old male who had fallen while bouldering and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The team extracted the individual and he was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
The El Paso County Search and Rescue team is comprised of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, Horizon Fire Department, Montana Vista Fire Department, Clint Fire Department, West Valley Fire Department, Socorro and San Elizario Fire Department, and Parks and Wildlife.

UPDATE – June 14, 2021
Sheriff’s Office Special Traffic Investigators continue their investigation, a total of eight spectators sustained injuries to include one fatality.
Two victims remain in critical but stable condition, five sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and 21-year-old Willie Valadez Ramirez was pronounced deceased at a local area hospital.
No other information is available at this time the investigation remains ongoing.

El Paso, Texas – At approximately 6:35 pm, Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 17600 block of Island Guadalupe Rd. in reference to an accident at a mud-track event.
The preliminary investigation revealed one of the vehicles due to unknown reasons left the mud-track striking and breaking through a guardrail. Three other vehicles were also struck as a result of the initial crash.
Spectators of the event were injured and transported to local area hospital three in critical condition and five others with non-life-threatening injuries.
No other information is available at this time the investigation remains ongoing.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE ARRESTS INDIVIDUAL FOLLOWING NARCOTICS INVESTIGATION
June 11, 2021
El Paso, TX – On June 9, 2021, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit conducted a narcotics investigation that led to the arrest of one individual in west El Paso County.
Through the course of the investigation, investigators identified Erik Vargas, age 19, as a person of interest.
On June 9, 2021, Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop, which resulted in a K-9 assisted search of Vargas’s vehicle. As a result of the search, deputies determined he was in possession of various narcotics and took Vargas into custody.
A subsequent search warrant was obtained for his residence leading to the seizure of additional narcotics and $11,000 in U.S. currency.
The Narcotics Unit seized a total of 40 grams of cocaine, 324 narcotic pills, 200 LSD tabs, 11 ounces of marijuana, 16 THC products, and two handguns.
Vargas was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility with a $144,000 bond.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE ARRESTS INDIVIDUAL FOLLOWING NARCOTICS INVESTIGATION
June 9, 2021
El Paso, TX – On Monday, June 7, 2021, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit in partnership with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service – El Paso Office conducted a narcotics investigation that led to the arrest of one individual.
Sheriff’s Office investigators were notified by U.S. Postal Inspectors of the possibility of narcotics being delivered via the postal service to a residence located on the 400 block of Huereque Dr.
Through the course of the investigation, investigators observed Manuel Montanez, age 18, accept a package from the U.S. postal inspector. Montanez proceeded to leave the residence with the package delivered moments earlier. A subsequent traffic stop resulted in the search of the vehicle, which yielded the discovery of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) vape cartridges weighing 714 grams.
Montanez was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for Man/Del CS PG 2>=400G with a $100,000 bond.

INDIVIDUAL ARRESTED FOLLOWING INVESTIGATION IN WEST EL PASO COUNTY
June 8, 2021
El Paso, Texas – On June 4, 2021, El Paso Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to a residence located at the 800 block of Emilio in Canutillo, Texas in reference to a domestic verbal dispute.
Through the course of the investigation, deputies learned one of the involved parties had left the residence. Chantal Ramirez, age 29, was subsequently located as a result of a traffic stop and found in possession of several controlled substances.
The traffic stop resulted in the seizure of various THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), high-grade marijuana products, and approximately $7900 in U.S. currency.
Ramirez was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for Man Del CS PG2 or 2-A>=4G<400 and Possession of Marijuana <2 oz. totaling $8,250 in bonds.
