NEWS RELEASE- Sheriff’s Office Responds to Criminal Trespass and Violation of Protective order in progress.
EL PASO, TEXAS – On December 14, 2024, at 9:02 am, the Horizon City Police Department was dispatched to the 14300 block of Desert Point Dr., Horizon City, TX, reference Criminal Trespass and Violation of Protective Order in progress. Horizon Police Officers arrived and encountered a subject brandishing a firearm. El Paso County Sheriff's Office Crisis Negotiators and Crisis Intervention Team arrived and attempted to de-escalate the subject. During the extensive negotiations, the subject approached law enforcement officers in a threatening manner with the firearm, and an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for further medical evaluation. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Internal Affairs Shooting Review Team, and the Texas Rangers are on the scene conducting the investigation.
The Internal Affairs Shooting Review Team and the Texas Rangers are also conducting an administrative investigation. There is no current threat to the public, and no other injuries have been reported. For investigative purposes, the area will be closed until further notice.
