Del Valle Public Safety Academy donates toys to the Socorro Ramirez Community Center for their annual Christmas toy drive
EL PASO, TX - On 12/13/2023, the Del Valle Public Safety Academy invited Deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office to participate in their annual Christmas Toy Drive Event. The Del Valle Public Safety Academy was established in 2016 to provide the Del Valle students with an additional career path to pursue. The path leading to a career in public safety is that of a firefighter/EMT. Their mission? To foster leadership through student-centered organization while providing community service throughout the Del Valle community. Members are educated on fire, medical, and all hazard mitigation as they work as a team to maintain academic excellence, physical fitness, and integrity. The Del Valle Public Safety Academy received several donations before the event from Del Valle High School staff members and students. The Del Valle Public Safety Academy received a great response from its community members. The event began at 1630 hours. Throughout this time, any family could drive up and receive a gift for each one of their children without any questions asked. We witnessed people driving up to donate even more toys during this event. At the end of the event, this group of young leaders donated all the toys received to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the Socorro Ramirez Community Center at 106 Peyton Rd. This Community Center focuses on assisting the Sparks community in many ways. This time of year, they host their annual Christmas party event. They receive numerous donations from different community partners to provide food, drinks, and toys for families and children in the Sparks Community. Families sign up, are given a number, and attend the party to receive their children’s Christmas toys.
On 12/15/2023, starting at 1300 hours, the Community Center began to host their event. Hundreds of community members attended the event and participated in singing and games. Community members were given pizza and drinks. At the end of the event, community members were given pre-prepared toy bags that contained age-appropriate toys. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Del Valle Public Safety Academy for their gracious toy donations and their instructors for shaping our future first responders. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office would also like to thank the Socorro Ramirez Community Center for everything they do for the Sparks Community.
