HORIZON HIGH SCHOOL HOMECOMING PARADE 2023

October 19, 2023

El Paso, Texas On Wednesday, October 18, 2023, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Community Services Section, Patrol Commander Ryan Urrutia, and Commissioner Iliana Holguin participated in the 2023 Horizon High School Homecoming Parade. The parade's theme for this year was "Under the Sea," it started at the intersection of Eastlake and Kenazo and concluded at the Horizon High School.

During the event, the school organized a pep rally at Scorpion Football Stadium, where they followed different customary school practices, including performances by the cheer and dance teams. The event culminated in a magnificent fireworks exhibition.

The Sheriff's Office participated in the parade with its vintage 1953 Chevy pickup truck, the 2015 Ford Explorer commemorating our fallen Deputy Peter J. Hererra, and the 2018 Harley Davidson Electra Glide Motorcycles from the traffic division. Ms. Ylva Salas, Career and Technology Education Teacher and Student Council Sponsor at Horizon High School, oversaw the well-coordinated event.

We want to extend special recognition to the entire Horizon High School staff, the student body, and the community of Horizon for ensuring the El Paso County Sheriff's Office's participation in this significant community event. The school upholds its motto, "Scorpion Strong." Horizon, the community felt the "sting of the scorpion" last night. Scorpions, thank you for your efforts in making this event possible.
