MOST WANTED FUGITIVES WEEK OF OCTOBER 6, 2023


EL PASO, TEXAS - Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc., distributes fugitives wanted by the El Paso Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office every week through the Most Wanted feature. The attached fugitives are individuals, where attempts in locating them for one reason or another have been unsuccessful. The agencies submit these fugitives to Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc., which distributes them to the news media and offers the use of the Crime Stoppers hotline for information regarding the whereabouts of these fugitives. Anyone with information on the location of any of these fugitives should call Crime Stoppers of El Paso immediately at (915) 566-8477 (TIPS), or submit the information on-line at www.crimestoppersofelpaso.org. You will remain anonymous, and if your tip leads to an arrest, you can qualify for a cash reward. Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc., is a non-profit organization that brings together the community, law enforcement, and the media to solve crime.

The National Faith and Blue is an esteemed annual initiative that enjoys national recognition. Central to this initiative is strengthening bonds between law enforcement professionals and the communities they serve, facilitated by the involvement of houses of worship. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office formally invites you, your family, and your friends to attend this event, which fosters open dialogue, effective communication, camaraderie, and prayer with our faith-based audience(s).

NATIONAL COFFEE WITH A DEPUTY DAY – OCTOBER 4, 2023

El Paso, Texas A meeting was held on October 4, 2023, by El Paso County Sheriff's Office members, including Deputies from the Community Service Section, the Montana Patrol Station, the Peter J. Hererra Patrol Station, Detectives from the Montana Patrol Station, and the COP representative. The meeting occurred at the Starbucks on 12161 Eastlake Blvd in El Paso, TX. We appreciate Starbucks' hospitality.

The main topic discussed during the meeting was our critical initiative, Coffee with a Deputy. This event used to happen annually, but we have now shifted to holding it quarterly, with a renewed focus on a single location for each session. This strategic shift allows us to address the specific needs of our community better. We can effectively address community concerns by focusing on one location per event. During these sessions, we create an environment where citizens feel comfortable sharing their concerns, and our main goal is to promote friendship and challenge the belief that police officers are only there to give out traffic tickets.

Community policing has always been a fundamental aspect of our efforts, and we understand that building trust takes time. Therefore, we organize these events four times yearly to ensure sustained engagement with our citizens. During these gatherings, our deputies provide valuable information on crime prevention and guide attendees on how to stay safe in El Paso County. This exchange of knowledge benefits not only the residents but also enables our deputies to understand better the needs of the community they serve.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is committed to strengthening the bond between law enforcement and the community. We strive to create an atmosphere of trust, understanding, and collaboration through our quarterly events. Together, we can build a safer and more harmonious El Paso County. 2023 NATIONAL NIGHT OUT EVENT

El Paso, Texas – The El Paso County Sheriff's Office National Night Out event, which occurred on the memorable date of October 3rd, 2023, at Sheriff’s Headquarters parking lot located at 3850 Justice Dr. in El Paso, Texas. An eagerly awaited and highly anticipated gathering that left a lasting impression on all who attended. This remarkable event accomplished something truly remarkable by bringing together individuals from various backgrounds, creating an atmosphere of inclusivity and togetherness that resonated deeply within our beloved El Paso community.

From the moment the event was announced, excitement filled the air as residents eagerly marked their calendars and awaited the opportunity to participate in this extraordinary occasion. The anticipation was palpable as the day drew nearer, with the entire community buzzing excited and anticipating what was to come.

As the day finally arrived, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office spared no effort in ensuring that every detail was meticulously planned and executed perfectly. The event venue was transformed into a vibrant and welcoming space adorned with colorful decorations that reflected the rich diversity of our community. From the moment attendees stepped foot into the event, they were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately made them feel at home. Over 70 local supporters and agencies showcased their vehicles and equipment, hosted games, gave away prizes to attendees, and culminated in a magnificent fireworks exhibition. Over 500 people attended this annual community-building campaign, and it promotes partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our communities safer and more enjoyable places to live.

Throughout the evening, attendees had the opportunity to engage in a wide range of activities and experiences with local law enforcement agencies that further fostered a sense of unity and camaraderie. From interactive games and competitions to live performances showcasing the talents of local artists, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The event also featured booths and exhibits highlighting various community organizations and initiatives, allowing attendees to learn more about the incredible work done in El Paso County.

As the night progressed, the energy and excitement continued to build, creating an electric atmosphere that was truly unforgettable. Laughter smiles, and conversations filled the air as new friendships were formed and existing ones were strengthened. The event catalyzed meaningful connections, reminding us of the power of coming together as a community.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office orchestrated a raffle showcasing three items. The recipients were selected from the roster compiled by individuals who confirmed their attendance at our Facebook Page event. We want to express our sincere appreciation to Designers Mart and National Furniture Liquidators for their generous contributions.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Rob Smith from QFX Fireworks for orchestrating such a magnificent exhibition.

We also want to thank Dario "The Delicious One" Rodriguez from 104.3 Hit FM for providing the music.

We want to give special recognition to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Community Service Section deputies, who went above and beyond to make this event successful. They worked tirelessly to help everyone set up their booths and exemplified the values of "working as a team" and "serving with pride."

Featured Fugitive IS Apprehended – Gerardo De Luna

EL PASO, TEXAS – On Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023, Deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit received an arrest warrant for 26 -year-old De Luna, Gerardo who was wanted for Aggravated Assault, Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest Detention w/ Vehicle, and Man/Del CS PG 1 > 4G < 200G. De Luna was featured on the Crime Stoppers Most Wanted. De Luna self-surrendered at the El Paso County Detention Facility and booked on without a bond.

Homicide Investigation (Canutillo, Texas)

October 4, 2023

El Paso, Texas – On Sunday, October 1st, 2023, at about 1246 hours, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a residence on the 700 block of Bailey Road in Canutillo, Texas. Upon arrival, deputies discovered an 82-year-old deceased male inside his residence. The death is being investigated as a homicide by detectives with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit. The Sheriff’s Office believes the incident is isolated and has no reason to believe an ongoing threat exists. The victim has been identified as Edward Albert Trout.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Criminal Investigations Division – Major Crimes Unit at (915) 538 – 2291.

SAN ELIZARIO HIGH SCHOOL 2023 HOMECOMING PARADE

October 3, 2023

El Paso, Texas The El Paso Sheriff’s Office Community Services and Commissioner Iliana Holguin participated in the 2023 San Elizario High School Homecoming Parade on Wednesday, September 28, 2023. This year’s parade theme was “School Spirit.” The procession commenced at Alfonso Borrego Sr. Elementary School and concluded at San Elizario High School.

The educational institution organized a pep rally at Eagle Football Stadium, observing various customary school practices, including paying tribute to the distinguished “honored ex”, performances by the cheer and dance teams and culminating in a magnificent fireworks exhibition.

It was a privilege to partake in the event alongside the esteemed presence of the Sheriff’s Office 1953 Chevy pickup truck and the 2005 GMC Hummer 2. Ms. Jasmine Lozano, Student Activity Manager at San Elizario High School, oversaw the well-coordinated event. Additionally, an immense gratitude to Mr. Alfredo Tellez’s (a retired Sheriff’s K-9 Deputy) Law Enforcement students for walking and riding alongside the Sheriff’s Office vehicles.

Furthermore, we would like to extend special recognition to the entire San Elizario High School staff, the student body, and the community of San Elizario for ensuring the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office’s participation in this significant community event. The school upholds its motto, “A Proud Community of Champions-Soaring to Excellence.” San Elizario you soared last night, thank you, Eagles, for your efforts.

El Paso, Texas – On September 27, 2023, members of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, including Deputies from the Montana Patrol Station, Detectives from the Montana Patrol Station, a COP representative, the Community Service Section, the Crisis Intervention Team, and the Traffic Division, held a meeting at Starbucks located at 12980 Eastlake Blvd, El Paso, TX.

We are grateful to Starbucks for allowing us to use their establishment. During this meeting, we discussed our critical initiative, Coffee with a Deputy.
