THEFT IN PROGRESS ARREST - STEVEN ANGEL GAMBOA & RONNIE ARMANDO ROJAS

El Paso, Texas – On August 29th, 2023, El Paso County Sheriff's Office deputies from the Criminal Investigations Targeted Response Unit (CITRU) at the Montana Patrol Station dispatched to the 14600 block of Desert Loop in response to a call reporting an ongoing theft. The incident involved two individuals who were in the act of stealing an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) from the premises.
Upon arriving at the location, the deputies witnessed a motor vehicle with a rope affixed to its rear bumper and a Yamaha ATV secured to the opposite end of the rope. Additionally, the deputies noted the presence of tracks consistent with the tires of the ATV, extending from the dwelling to the roadway. The driver was duly identified as 21-year-old Steven Angel Gamboa, while the passenger was identified as 46-year-old Ronnie Armando Rojas.
The victim informed the deputies that further belongings had been unlawfully taken from the premises. They thoroughly searched Gamboa's vehicle to recover the additional stolen items. During the vehicle search, the deputies successfully discovered a black Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm handgun positioned behind the driver's seat and a red Craftsman air compressor on the back seat.
Gamboa and Rojas were apprehended and processed at the El Paso County Jail. Rojas was booked on additional outstanding criminal warrants with a total bond of $60,000.00. Gamboa was booked with a total bond of $20,00.00.
