CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS TARGETED RESPONSE UNIT ARREST 08252023

El Paso, Texas – UPDATE - On August 24, 2023, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies from the Peter John Herrera Patrol Station Criminal Investigations Targeted Response Unit (CITRU) attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop at the 15200 block of Horizon Blvd on a stolen vehicle, refused to stop, and threw unknown items out the window. The vehicle was located shortly after in a nearby neighborhood where three male subjects in the area of the vehicle were detained. Throughout further investigation, CITRU Deputies, along with the El Paso Police Department Auto Theft Task Force, determined the three male subjects were inside the vehicle at the time the motor vehicle stop was attempted. The driver was identified as 32-year-old Hernandez, Danny, who was booked for Evading Arrest Detention with a Vehicle, Tamper/Fabricate Physical Evidence with intent to impair, Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 < 28G, and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle with a total bond of $34,000. The front passenger was identified as 19-year-old Flores, Angel Aaron, who was booked for Tamper/Fabricate Physical Evidence with intent to impair, with a bond of $500. The back passenger was identified as 37-year-old Ozaeta, Ricardo who was booked for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1/1-B >=4G<200G, Tamper/Fabricate Physical Evidence with intent to impair, Fail to Identify Fugitive Intent Give False Info with a total bond of $12,000. Ozaeta was also wanted with two additional Outstanding Felony Warrants with No Bond. Hernandez, Flores, and Ozaeta were subsequently booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility without further incident. The stolen vehicle was also recovered and was returned to the registered owner.

EL PASO, TEXAS - On July 25, 2023, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies from the Peter John Herrera Patrol Station dispatched to the intersection of Zapata Street and Madero Drive in reference to a theft of a vehicle. Throughout further investigation, Deputies discovered that unknown subjects took the reporter’s vehicle without consent while displaying a weapon.
