El Paso, Texas – UPDATE - On June 30, 2023, Alvaro Castaneda was booked into the El Paso County Jail for intoxication manslaughter, manslaughter, intoxication assault, and four counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon for being the driver of this crash.

El Paso, Texas – On October 24, 2021, El Paso County Sheriff's Office Special Traffic Investigators were requested to the 1200 block of S. Fabens Carlsbad Road in reference to a motor vehicle crash involving a rollover and multiple occupants that were ejected. The Investigation revealed that the driver of a Ford Mustang, who was later identified as 17-Year-Old Alvaro Castaneda of the 1300 block of Goucher Dr. in Horizon, Texas, was operating the vehicle at a high rate of speed and while intoxicated. The driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, and the vehicle went off into the desert area, which caused it to roll over multiple times. The vehicle was occupied by five passengers, four of whom were ejected. As a result of the crash, a 16-year-old passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver sustained severe injuries at the time of the crash.
