New federally funded patrol units for the Crisis Intervention Team

El Paso, Texas – On Friday, January 27, 2023, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Crisis Intervention Team began responding to calls for service in newly purchased vehicles. These vehicles and all their equipment were purchased using federal funds. The purchase of these vehicles helped to minimize the impact on the department’s annual budget and expenses to taxpayers. The new units will benefit the team’s mission of providing assistance and resolution to any crisis or high-risk situation involving a citizen in a behavioral or mental health crisis.
