Incident at the 9000 block of Curtis Drive in Canutillo UPDATE

UPDATE - El Paso, Texas - On December 11th, 2022, at approximately 3:00 pm., El Paso County Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to reports of an individual who was shot at the 9000 block of Curtis.
Upon arrival, deputies located a juvenile male with several gunshot wounds, and he was transported to a local hospital. The El Paso Sheriff's Office, Major Crimes Unit, was requested and took over the investigation. During the investigation, 20-year-old Ezequiel Covarrubias was identified as the individual who shot the juvenile male, 16 years old. Covarrubias was arrested for Criminal Attempted Murder and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility. Covarrubias was also arrested for outstanding criminal warrants for Sexual Assault and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1/1B<1G bond. Covarrubias's total bond for all charges was set at $403,000.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident in the Upper Valley where a juvenile victim was shot. The young victim was transported to a local hospital. The offender is in custody. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit is investigating the shooting. The Sheriff’s office will release details as they become available.
