Attempt to deliver drugs to Jail Annex -Arrest made
EL PASO, TEXAS -The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPCSO) Narcotics Unit and the Serious Threats, Gangs, and Intelligence Unit (STGIU) conducted an investigation reference to narcotics being delivered to the El Paso County Jail Annex located at 12501 Montana Ave. in El Paso County TX.
While processing incoming mail correspondence an officer detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from a specific envelope addressed to an inmate. The envelope was inspected, and a yellow waxy substance concealed within the papers was discovered and yielded the properties of marijuana.
Detectives with the assistance of a United States Postal Inspections Service were able to trace back the mail correspondence using the postal stamp on the letter. During the investigation, investigators were able to determine that BENJAMIN BORUNDA sent the letter to the Jail Annex.
Detectives obtained a warrant of arrest for Manufacture/Delivery of Control Substance (Penalty Group 2 )with a bond of $10,000.00 for Benjamin Borunda.
On 06/16/22 defendant BORUNDA was taken into custody by the EPCSO Narcotics Unit and later booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
