EL PASO, TEXAS – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office requests assistance locating the following missing person. On 07/09/2024 at approximately 0137 hours, the pictured person, identified as 17-year-old, Gabriel De Jesus Rivera, was reported missing from the area of 14800 Calhoun Ave, Horizon City, Texas. The missing person was last seen wearing black sweatpants, white shoes, and an unknown color shirt. Gabriel is believed to need medical assistance. Anyone with information regarding Gabriel Rivera, or his whereabouts is asked to contact the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office 915-851-3287 or 9-1-1.

Illegal Dumping – Illegal Dumping at 11700 block of Elizabeth Dr, in El Paso County.

EL PASO, TEXAS – On 7/6/2024, Deputies from the Deputy Peter J. Herrera Patrol Station were dispatched to the 11700 block of Elizabeth Dr, in El Paso County, TX, in reference to Illegal Dumping. Deputies arrived and observed a vehicle matching the description given in reference to illegal dumping. A motor vehicle stop was initiated at Horizon Blvd and Stockyard Dr. An Investigation revealed that 51-year-old Manuel Hidalgo and 47-year-old Felipe Hidalgo were found to be responsible for dumping approximately 1440 cubic feet of trash into the desert area. Manuel and Felipe were arrested and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for Illegal Dumping >200 CFT under a $1,500 bond.

UPDATE::

The roadway at the 700 block of S Ascencion Rd remains closed.

AAA NEWS RELEASE

On 7/8/2024 at 0344 hours, Deputies from the Deputy Peter J. Herrera Patrol Station and East Montana Patrol Station were dispatched to Rio Penasco Ave and S Ascencion Rd, in El Paso County, TX, in reference to an MVA with injuries. Deputies arrived at 0351 hours. One male driver was transported via LIFE Ambulance to Del Sol Medical Center for further medical evaluation. Investigation currently ongoing.

A portion of roadway at the 700 block of S Ascencion Rd will be closed for several hours. Drivers are encouraged to find an alternate route.

UNAUTHORIZED USE OF MOTOR VEHICLE- ARREST

EL PASO, TEXAS – On July 4, 2024, at approximately 1100 hours, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputy assigned to the Northwest Patrol conducted a traffic stop at the 7000 block of Doniphan on a black Porsche Cayenne Turbo S with no visible registration plates.

Upon encountering the driver of the vehicle, the Deputy observed the driver/offender to be extremely nervous, providing conflictive statements and denying ownership of the vehicle. The Deputy initiated an investigation and successfully identified and located contact information for the registered owner. The registered owner resides in California and had hired a transportation company to transport his luxurious vehicle from Austin Texas to California.

The investigation revealed the offender is employed by the transportation company as a driver and had removed the said vehicle from the transport trailer to take the vehicle on a joy ride without the consent of the register owner.

The Porsche was impounded for safekeeping and the registered owner advised he would be making arrangements to recover his vehicle. After an extensive search for the transportation trailer, the trailer and towing vehicle were located and were also secured and impounded for safekeeping.

The offender was identified as 32 years old Borovenskii, Andrei. The offender was booked into the El Paso County DT Jail for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.

All Terrain Motor Vehicle Accident -6/22/2024

EL PASO, TEXAS – On June 22, 2024, at approximately 4:30 pm., El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to I-10 West, at mile marker 49, approximately a quarter mile north of the interstate in the desert region, to respond to an off-road motor vehicle accident. The incident involved two male occupants who suffered serious injuries and were subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

There is no further information at this time. In the meantime, we urge the public to prioritize safety when operating all-terrain vehicles. It is crucial to exercise caution and adhere to all safety measures, such as wearing helmets, following designated pathways, and avoiding risky maneuvers. Taking these precautions can help prevent accidents and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Crisis intervention team attends Horizon high school’s “back on track” program.

EL PASO, TEXAS – June 12, 2024 - The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office CIT assisted Horizon High School’s School Resource Officers in their “Back on Track” program that assists at-risk students gain school credits that are needed for graduation. CIT in collaboration with the school’s SROs spoke to students and gave a presentation on “The Effect of Drugs on Mental Health”. In addition to the presentation, students were educated on the importance of attending school, maintain good grades, and being drug-free. This collaboration highlights the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office positive role within the community.
