U.S. Treasury Emergency Rental & Utility Financial Assistance Available to County Households

Households may apply for rental assistance at EPRentHelp.org. Interested households may also call the County General Assistance office at 915-546-8150, M-F, 8am to 5pm and/or call the United Way of El Paso Community Resource Center at 915-400-7401, M-F, 8am to 5pm.

The County of El Paso has received from the US Treasury $4.8 million in assistance to help County households who have been financially impacted by COVID 19 stabilize their current housing situation. Families needing this assistance will demonstrate the following in order to receive the assistance:
  1. Financial impact due to COVID 19 (i.e., loss of wages; or decreased wages; or increased home/personal expenses to allow telework, tele-school, tele-med), and
    Please note that applicants may complete a Self-Attestation to demonstrate financial impact due to COVID-19.
  2. Renting an apartment, home, mobile home in a County outlying zip code outside the city limits of El Paso, and
  3. Household income does not exceed 80% Area Median Income (AMI). Households at or below 50% AMI or households with one or more individuals that have not been employed for the 90-day period preceding the date of application may be prioritized. Funds from Economic Impact Payments, also known as stimulus checks, are not considered income and will not affect your eligibility for this program. See below income limits.
