CIVIL UNIT

The Public Defender’s Office represents adults, when appointed by the Court for the following civil matters.

• Individuals charged with contempt (disobeying a court order) and are summoned to court to answer accusations of: not paying child support, medical support, denying visitations and not complying with child support probation.
• Current active members of the Armed Services, under the Service members Civil Relief Act that have pending family law matters and hearings in El Paso County.
• Child Protective Services (CPS) cases, the Public Defender’s Office represents parents that their whereabouts are unknown.
