GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS

The El Paso County Governmental Affairs team prepares the legislative agenda and values document for each legislative session at the direction of the El Paso County Commissioners Court. The staff also monitors, reviews, prepares, and initiates legislation affecting county operations and services, while maintaining an open line of communication with stakeholders, elected officials, and staff involved with each initiative. The governmental affairs team is also responsible for identifying legislative and funding priorities for El Paso County, and advancing those priorities before state and federal lawmakers in Austin and Washington D.C. As a political subdivision of the State of Texas, El Paso County requires legislative authority to modify or expand the services provided to our residents, for which our intergovernmental affairs efforts are instrumental to the county’s everyday operations.
