IDENTITY THEFT
To be truly proactive when you think your identity may have been compromised, take the following actions:
File a police report about the missing information (you can do this over the phone 915-832-4400). A copy should be available to you a few days after you file it.
Use the police report to flag your credit reports for ID Theft. This means the Bureaus have to call you directly for any new lines of credit open.
You can also file a report with FTC which is reported to the Bureaus (identitytheft.gov).
You can obtain one free credit report from each Bureau once a year (annualcreditreport.com) so you could do TransUnion right now, Equifax in the summer, and Experian in the winter (for example) to monitor activity.;
The IRS offers the following link about data breaches https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/data-breach-information-for-taxpayers.
