Commissioner Leon Visits Facility Housing Immigrant Children and Families
El Paso has recently been experiencing an influx of unaccompanied minors and families from Central American countries, including El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. These unaccompanied children are in extreme need of shelter, clothes and food, as they are attempting to flee their country of origin to escape violence and poverty.
On July 1, 2014, Commissioner Carlos Leon went to a facility that is currently housing some of these children and their families. “Regardless of political views, these are children that are here now and need our help,” stated Commissioner Leon.
The El Paso community can help by volunteering and giving donations to help aid these facilities. Please contact Annunciation House at 915-545-4509 to help.
