El Paso County Commissioner Carlos Leon, Public Works and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) held a community meeting at the Montana Vista Fire Rescue at 13978 Montana on Thursday, May 26, 2016. State Director Paco Valentin presented Commissioner Leon with a plaque recognizing the funding ($8.5 million) for the upcoming Water and Waste Disposal Grant estimated to begin in November 2016.
Wastewater Project Description:
El Paso County and the USDA are extending wastewater service to the Desert Acceptance (Square Dance) neighborhood located on the far eastside of El Paso. This neighborhood does not have existing public wastewater services, and are currently using the disposal of wastewater via individual septic tanks. The proposed wastewater collection system will provide residents with wastewater services and reconnect with existing wastewater systems in the surrounding area. Project stakeholders include the County of El Paso, United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development (USDA-RD), El Paso Water Utilities (EPWU), and property owners located within the Square Dance neighborhood.
Commissioner Leon presented Principal Boyd with a resolution on May 23, 2016 for her acknowledgment as the 2016 Texas National Distinguished Principal of the Year award. Dana Boyd has been a distinguished leader for the Ysleta Independent School District and the proud principal at East Point Elementary for the past five years.
Principal Boyd, an educator for 17 years and a former Texas Teacher of the Year has been named the 2016 National Distinguished Principal for the state of Texas. Mrs. Boyd prevailed over eight finalists from around the state for this prestigious award by remaining a strong candidate through a challenging competition, and will represent Texas at the National Distinguished Principals program in Washington D.C. this coming October. The National Distinguished Principals program honors principals who demonstrate exemplary character and provide exceptional quality of the education to children throughout the school year.
Congratulations Principal Boyd!
