- K-9 Unit
- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office Canine Unit was established to provide highly trained Canine teams to supplement the Patrol Section. As the Canine Units were used in a more frequent basis, the Sheriff's Office realized the importance of their need in performing specialized and sensitive tasks. As current crime trends continue to change, so has the Sheriff's Office.
-
- Canine teams are now assigned to both the Border Crimes Initiative, and to the Detention Bureau. Border Crime Initiative Canine teams, are responsible for supplementing all areas of the Sheriff's Office, and conducting Criminal Interdiction. The Detention Canine team is responsible for supplementing the Detention Facility and Jail Annex.
-
- All Canine teams are responsible for providing assistance within our Agency as well as assisting other Local, State, and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies. Canine teams are very popular at public events, and are frequently requested to provide education to the community, conduct presentations at all area schools.
