Detention Officer Cesar Arreola. On Saturday, January 17, 2009 at approximately 9:00 AM, Officer Arreola was participating in the Special Reaction Team tryouts. Officer Arreola completed the assessment when he began feeling a shortness of breath and feeling light headed. Medical Staff on site began treating him & he was later transported to Sierra-Providence East where he remained until he passed away early the next morning at about 5:00 AM.
Officer Arreola was a 14 month veteran of the Sheriff's Office.
He graduated top of his Detention Officer class in November 2007.
Officer Arreola was also a Gulf War veteran & an active volunteer for Virgen De Guadalupe Catholic Church.
He was survived by his beloved wife of 16 years Martha, his 13 year-old daughter Jazmin and his 10 year-old son Angel.
