Background Record Checks & Clearance Letters
Background:
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office Records Section manages all criminal and arrests records for the El Paso County Sheriff's Office. Background checks and clearance letters are often requested for employment purposes.
Requests Can Be Made:
In Person (All Payment Methods Accepted but Personal Checks)
- Sheriff's Office Headquarters, Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
US Mail Requests (Money Order Only)
- Mail Background Check / Clearance Form to EPCSO Records Section, located at 3850 Justice Drive El Paso County Texas 79938
Online Requests (Credit Card Only)
- Emailing Background Check / Clearance Form to EPCSORecords@epcounty.com
Fees: $8.00
Important Notice:
    - Only the person being checked can authorize a background check
    - If another person is requesting the background check as a second party, they must have notarized authorization to obtain the background check.
    - Criminal Background checks are only done using arrest records generated by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.
      - If a complete background check is needed through NCIC/TCIC it should be done with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
