Volunteerism is a demonstration of active citizenship and is widely recognized as fundamental to the strength and resilience of a society. Volunteers build community, providing the framework necessary for strong connections and mutual benefits. As such, the El Paso County Volunteer Program creates opportunities for people of all backgrounds to explore their humanity and encounter people and situations they may otherwise not have met or experienced. Volunteers in the El Paso County Volunteer Program serve across county departments and across the geographic expanse of the county. From Agua Dulce to Ascarate Park, from the Veterans Assistance Center to the county courthouse and everywhere in between, El Paso County volunteers learn new skills, share their expertise, and enhance their own lives as well as those of their fellow citizens. Our volunteer program welcomes anyone interested in developing community ownership, reducing social isolation, and finding purpose and meaning in service to others. Join us as we build social capacity to address our current and future community needs.

Community Services

Senior Nutrition Program Caring Callers - Do you like talking with others? Would you like to reach out to our senior nutrition program participants to ensure they are receiving nutritious meals? Help us connect with our seniors! This is virtual opportunity.

Migrant Support Services - Care Package Assembly- Help asylum seekers by packaging baby care items and hygiene kits. Volunteer shifts are available Monday-Friday, weekends, and holidays between 9am and 3pm. Your kindness makes a difference to others.

Recreation and Program Assistant - Do you enjoy playing games? Dancing? Decorating for special events? Are you willing to teach a special skill or help serve a festive meal? We're looking for volunteers at our Canutillo and Fabens Community Centers to assist with activities and programs. Help us engage our senior citizens in activities that spark fun and bring joy.

Governmental Services

Courthouse Lobby Greeter - Are you friendly and outgoing? Do you like to help others? This is a great opportunity for you to help visitors to the courthouse find the information and resources they need. Volunteer shifts are available M-F between 8:30am and 4:30pm.

Office Assistant - Do you enjoy working in a professional office setting? Are you looking to refresh your resume and add office skills? We are looking for teammates to assist us in providing the best service to our county community. Volunteer shifts are available M-F between the hours of 8am and 5pm.

Parks and Recreation

El Paso County is full of beautiful outdoor spaces. Help us protect the beauty of our desert by joining us for neighborhood and county park clean-up events. This is a great opportunity for volunteer groups and is family-friendly.

EP County Parks host fun events throughout the year! Come help us provide engaging, family-friendly activities for our community. Special event volunteers usually work outside and need to be prepared for potentially hot, windy El Paso weather.

Unpaid Internships

Unpaid internships are offered in a variety of departments throughout the county. Interns learn about career opportunities and assist with projects directly related to their course of study and professional development.

Community Days of Service

Join our volunteer team for special days of service where we work together to strengthen our community. Past service days have included volunteering for the August 3rd Remembrance Ceremony, assembling boxes of food for distribution to hungry families, and cleaning our county cemetery.
