Domestic Relations Office

  •  
  • 1. All child support payments, including cash medical support and/or medical insurance premium reimbursements, are to be paid by the obligor to the obligee through the State Disbursement Unit, P.O. Box 659791, San Antonio, Texas 78265-9791.
  •  
  • 2. Either party may apply to the Domestic Relations Office for the issuance of an administrative writ of withholding.
  •  
  • a. If a withholding order has been issued by the Court, there is a $30.00 issuance fee which must be paid before the administrative writ of withholding will be processed and issued by the DRO.
  •  
  • b. If no withholding order has been issued by the Court, an application for preparation and issuance of an administrative writ must be filed with the Domestic Relations Office, together with a copy of the Decree of Divorce and a $70.00 preparation and issuance fee. No writ of withholding will be prepared or issued until the fee is paid.
  •  
  • c. If the obligor has changed jobs there is a $30.00 issuance fee to amend and re-issue the administrative writ of withholding.
  •  
  • d. Until the administrative writ of withholding has been processed and the funds are actually deducted from the obligor’s paycheck, the obligor remains liable for the payment of all child support through the State Disbursement Unit, P.O.Box 659791, San Antonio, Texas 78265-9791.
  •  
  • e. Direct child support payments to the obligee are considered a gift and are not reflected on the child support account. Direct payments of child support are not encouraged. All payments should be made by check (easily verifiable) or money order and sent to the State Disbursement Unit, P.O. Box 659791, San Antonio, Texas 78265-9791.

  • 3. Information regarding child support accounts may be obtained from the Monitoring and Customer Service Division of the Domestic Relations Office, Rm LL-108, El Paso County Courthouse, 500 E. San Antonio, El Paso, Texas, 79901, ph. 915/834-8257.

  • 4. An annual and mandatory DRO service fee of $36.00 is due on the date of the entry of the Divorce Decree and is payable to the Domestic Relations Office, Rm LL-108, El Paso County Courthouse, 500 E. San Antonio, El Paso, Texas, 79901, ph. 915/834-8257. The $36.00 fee is charged on an annual basis and terminates when the youngest child reaches 18 years. If the service fee is delinquent, a notice is sent to the Texas Dept. of Transportation and a hold is placed upon drivers’ license and vehicle registration renewals.

  • 5. Health insurance and life insurance verification is required to be filed with the Domestic Relations Office, Rm LL-108, El Paso County Courthouse, 500 E. San Antonio, El Paso, Texas, 79901, ph. 915/834-8257 on an annual basis.

  • 6. The Domestic Relations Office independently monitors all child support accounts based upon parent-child orders entered on or after October 16, 2000. However, either party may request a child support calculation and/or monitoring services at any time.

  • 7. Weekly orientations regarding access and possession orders and cooperative parenting classes are offered by the Domestic Relations Office, Rm LL-108, El Paso County Courthouse, 500 E. San Antonio, El Paso, Texas, 79901. Contact 915/834-8293 for information and/or registration. There is no charge for these services.
