EL PASO, TEXAS – Following the success of last years consolidated effort between the El Paso Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriffs Office in conducting two summer youth law enforcement academies, the two agencies have come together once again to host this program. The program is open to residents of El Paso County who are 13-18 years of age. If a person has reached the age of 18 and has ALREADY graduated high school they would not be eligible for the youth academy. They would be encouraged to enroll in our Adult Citizens Academy. The classes are held Monday through Friday and attendance is mandatory on all days. Topics discussed include patrol procedures, presentations from various specialized units representing both agency’s, traffic enforcement and a basic overview of law enforcement in our region. The Sheriffs Office will also be hosting a tour of the two jails located in El Paso. All participants will be asked to provide their own transportation to and from the training locations as well as a sack lunch. Food will not be provided. The dates and locations for these academies are as follows:

Session 1: June 27th THROUGH July 1, 2011 - classes will be held at the El Paso Police Department Training Academy located at 2300 Scenic Drive
