- Crimes Against Persons
The "Criminal Investigation Bureau" is comprised of two sections, "Crimes Against Persons" and "Sex Crimes Unit" headed by one Sergeant. The majority of the Detectives assigned to the "Bureau" have a minimum of twenty years Law Enforcement experience.

The "Crimes Against Persons" section currently has seven Detectives assigned to investigate reported crimes against persons cases which include but not limited to the following;

• Assaults (including Family Violence) |
• Stalking |
| • Missing Persons |
• Aggravated Assaults |
• Bail Jumping |
| • Kidnappings |
• Protective Order Violations |
• Engaging In Organized Criminal Activity |
| • Aggravated Kidnappings |
• Aggravated Assaults |
• Assault On A Public Servant |
| • Robberies |
• Terroristic Threats |
• Obstruction or Retaliation |
| • Aggravated Robberies |

- The "Sex Crimes Unit" also known as the "Crimes Against Children" section, currently has three Detectives assigned to investigate reported Sex Crimes or Crimes Against Children cases which include but not limited to the following;

- The "Sex Crimes Unit" is also responsible for the "Sex Offender Registration Program"set out by the Texas Department
of Public Safety
- • All sex offenders that have a duty to register and whom reside in the County of El Paso, Texas have a duty to register with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.
- • The Sex Crimes Unit is responsible for registering sex offenders and conducting physical verifications of sex offenders.
- • The Sex Crimes Unit is also responsible for arresting Sex Offenders whom are out of compliance with their sex offender registration.
- • The Public is encouraged to contact the El Paso County Sheriff's Office @ 915-538-2291 if they want to inquire or share information with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office about a sex offender or a suspected sex offender.
