The El Paso County Domestic Relations Office has been awarded a grant from the Texas Bar Foundation for $12,400.  This grant provides funding to conduct mediations through virtual meeting software as well as software to securely obtain participants signatures on mediated settlement agreements. Because of Covid-19, individuals are more able to participate in activities when they are offered remotely. Providing online dispute resolution for the public will encourage individuals to find resolutions. The Domestic Relations Office provides mediations for Self-Represented litigants that are going through a divorce and for those individuals that have a final order involving a child to address Access and Possession of the child(ren).  Funds from this grant will also be used to reduce the mediation fee.  The current mediation fee is $400, but because many residents have become unemployed or under employed during this time this amount may be a hardship and these funds will be used to reduce this amount.
