El Paso, TX – On February 17, 2018, students from Garcia Enriquez Middle School, were attending a UIL Academic Competition in Horizon City, Texas. Several students of Garcia Enriquez Middle School received anonymous cell phone messages stating that someone was going to shoot up the school. This action caused fear for the safety of the students resulting in the cancellation of the competition.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit investigated the case and identified the student as a 14-year-old female who attends Garcia Enriquez Middle School. The student was charged with Terroristic Threat (fear of imminent serious bodily injury), a Class B Misdemeanor and referred to the County Attorney’s Office.
