EPCSO DWI RESULTS – THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY PERIOD

El Paso, TX – During the recent Thanksgiving Holiday period (November 22, 2017, to November 26, 2107) the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office made a total of (4) driving while intoxicated related arrests.

The Sheriff’s Office utilized funding provided by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) 2018 Comprehensive Grant as part of their enhanced patrols targeting drunk drivers. Of the (4) arrests made by the Sheriff’s Office, (3) arrests were made under the 2018 TxDOT STEP Comprehensive Grant.

Arrests made by the Sheriff’s Office during the reporting period are as follows:

-1 arrests: Driving While Intoxicated

- 2 arrests: Driving While Intoxicated Breath Alcohol Content .15 or higher

- 1 arrest: Driving While Intoxicated 2nd Offense

4 Total Arrests

The result of the recent DWI operations are indicative of a reduction in Driving While Intoxicated arrests made by the Sheriff’s Office in the past few years during the Thanksgiving Holiday period. In 2015, the Sheriff’s Office made a total of 23 Driving While Intoxicated offense arrests. In 2016, a sharp decrease in Driving While Intoxicated arrest were made with a total of 5.
