NATIONAL POLICE WEEK MAY 14TH – 20TH, 2017

May 15, 2017

El Paso, Texas – In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15th falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

On Monday, May 15th, 2017, Sheriff Richard Wiles and Sheriff Deputies accepted the resolution issued by Commissioners Court, recognizing May 14th -  20th, 2017 as “National Police Week.”

On behalf of Sheriff Wiles, we recognize and thank you all for your commitment to the Sheriff’s Office and for keeping our community safe.
