EPCSO ANNUAL EASTER BUNNY VISIT

El Paso, TX – Sheriff Richard Wiles and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Community Service section are making Easter “MOBILE” with our annual Easter Bunny Visit. 

Sheriff Wiles and the Sheriff’s Office Community Service section will be bringing Easter to the children at the El Paso Children’s Hospital. The Easter Bunny will also be present during the visit and will help by distributing Easter Baskets and goodies to the children.

The 9th Annual Easter Bunny Visit will take place on Thursday, April 13th, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the El Paso Children’s Hospital located at 4845 Alameda Ave.

EPCSO OFFICERS TO HOST INTERNATIONAL SRT SCHOOL IN BRAZIL

El Paso, TX – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office will have three detention officers who specialize in special response tactics travel to Curitiba Brazil to host a Special Response Team school.

Sheriff’s Office detention officers and officers from the Pima, Maricopa Arizona Department of Corrections will provide instruction to correctional staff from Brazil, Argentina, and Chile inside the state and federal prisons in Curitiba, Brazil. The school will also provide Sheriff’s Office officers with additional training and techniques for implementation in future courses.

The train will consist of the following: One Man Cell Extractions, Two-Man Tactics extractions, Riot/Civil Disturbance, and Hostage and Rescue in a Correctional Setting.

This Special Response School is a continuing relationship between the Sheriff’s Office, and the correctional staff in Brazil as well as other law enforcement agencies who take part in these instruction courses. In previous years, the Sheriff’s Office has hosted two yearly Special Response Schools in El Paso, Texas, with attendance from law enforcement staff from Arizona, Florida, and Brazil. In the past, the Brazilian correctional staff has used the Special Response training in Riot/Civil Disturbance in preparation for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Sheriff Richard D. Wiles, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, and lead instructor Officer Luis Trevino continue to develop the program for special response tactics in a correctional setting. The Sheriff’s Office is quickly becoming a household name for special response tactic training, so much so that the law enforcement agencies who part-take in the training require their staff to successfully complete the course to further their job performance.

Sheriff’s Office Detention Officers Trevino, Leos, and Corporal Moreno will be traveling to Curitiba, Brazil, for the training.

The training will be held May 15-18, 2017.

El Paso, TX – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the Animal Rescue League of El Paso hosted a free shot clinic on Sunday, March 19th, 2017.

            The shot clinic provided 950 free parvo/distemper vaccinations and 650 reduced cost rabies vaccinations to pets of the El Paso County.

            The shot clinic was held at the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Sparks Substation.

            Vaccinations for this event were provided by the Animal Rescue League of El Paso and Dr. Carabello.

           Thank you to all who attended, Sheriff’s Office Community Service, Patrol, Animal Control, PAWS in Detention, Animal Rescue League staff and volunteers, and Dr. Carabello’s staff for participating in the event.

El Paso, TX – On Thursday, March 16, 2017, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with Union Pacific Railroad, Union Pacific Railroad Police and the Socorro Police Department conducted an operation to check for compliance with Texas Department of Transportation requirements in and around railroad crossings. Several Sheriff’s Office units positioned themselves around railroad crossings from Socorro to Clint. The operation took place from 7:00 am to 10:30 am. The Sheriff’s Office issued a total of 35 citations as a result of the operation.

Citations/Violations as follows:

(6) Registration Violations

(6) Driver’s License Violations

(5) Disregard Railroad Crossing Device

(3) Disregard Official Traffic Control Device

(3) Fail to Maintain Proof of Financial Responsibility

(2) Adult Seatbelt Violations

(1) Unrestraint Child Violation

The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public that collisions between passenger vehicles and trains are 100% preventable when motorists drive in observance of all railroad signs and signals.

RELEASE: EPCSO & PASO DEL NORTE HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION FORM NEW NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

El Paso, TX – El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Community Service Section along with the Paso Del Norte Homeowners Association held their first neighborhood watch meeting on Saturday, March 4th, 2017.

Neighborhood Watch is one of the oldest and most well-known crime prevention programs, bringing citizens together with law enforcement to deter crime and make communities safer.

The formation of the new neighborhood watch allows for neighbors and Sheriff’s Office deputies to build a working relationship between the two. The neighborhood watch meeting kicked off with great success with over 20 residents being present for the first meeting. Future meetings will address any issues the neighborhood may have concerns with. The formation of the new neighborhood watch will help the community to continue to prosper.
