The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the assistance of the El Paso County community in locating the following missing person.

Adrian Orozco age 20, was last seen at this residence in San Elizario, Texas. Orozco is diagnosed with a mental disorder and has not been taking his medication.  Orozco has left his residence in the past but has returned to his residence within a couple of days or has been located in Fabens, TX by family members.

  Orozco has light skin complexion, acne marks on his facial area, approximately 5’6” tall, weighs approximately 160 lbs, black hair, and brown eyes.  Orozco was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, grey shorts and grey canvas tennis shoes with no laces.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Adrian Orozco is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 915-546-2280 or 9-1-1.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigators participated in one of the summer camps organized by the Centennial Museum and Chihuahuan Desert Gardens at UTEP, on Friday, June 24th, 2016.

            The large command center was stationed behind the museum and the Crime Scene Unit was able to show the children what a real crime scene investigators does every day. Susan Wickenden, Bernadette Ortega, and the interns hosted a mock crime scene for kids where they photographed, sketched, and took their fingerprints.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Community Service Section and McGruff visited the Peter Piper Pizza on 119 N. Balboa Rd. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016.

Sheriff’s Office deputies and McGruff met with children from ages 4-12 and taught them about Stranger Danger. Children learned to identify who is considered a stranger, who are safe strangers (like law enforcement officers and first responders) and how to recognize and handle a dangerous situation.

El Paso, TX –  The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Pets Advancing Wellness Success ( PAWS) has been busy with training and finding cadets “furever” homes this past month.

Sheriff Richard Wiles and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the Animal Rescue League of El Paso created the PAWS (Pets Advancing Wellness and Success) vocational program to assist inmates in attaining vocational training and to provide homeless pets an opportunity to be adopted.

In, June, three of our canine cadets completed the program and are now basic obedience certified. The three canine cadets also found “furever” homes with the help from the Animal Rescue League of El Paso.

Canine Cadet Toby will be calling the Medina Family is “furever” family.

And last but not least, Canine Cadet Lucky, Lucky completed the training being completely deaf. Our detention officers, inmates, and staff all put in the extra effort to reach graduation and adoption.   Here is Lucky with his new family!

It doesn’t stop there, with the adoption of these three canine cadets the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and PAWS welcomes their newest trainee: Canine Cadet Diesel.  Diesel is a ten-month-old, male Labrador. Diesel is very friendly and loves playtime with other dogs.

The canine cadets that are part of the PAWS vocational program can be adopted through the Animal Rescue League of El Paso.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office personnel attended the El Paso County Fitness Fair at the Sheriff’s Office Region VIII Academy on Tuesday, June 28, 2016.

Sheriff’s Office personnel visited with fitness, nutrition and alternative health experts to explore options available in our community to lead fit and healthy lives.  Healthy food samples, demonstrations, wellness screenings, and fitness providers were in attendance.

The fair had activities for all ages, WarriorsEdge Boxing provided boxing demonstrations from their youngest and toughest fighters!

The fair also had a special guest: Four-time World Boxing Champion DeMarcus “Chop Chop” Corley, who was on hand for pictures and autographs.

El Paso, TX – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office conducted an operation to curb underage drinking from June 3rd – 18th, 2016.

Sheriff’s Office deputies proactively patrolled the county of El Paso and focused on curbing underage drinking and beer runs.  The results of the operation are as follows:

· 65 citations for Minor Consumption

· 18 citations for Curfew Violations

· 3 arrests for Possession of Marijuana, and

· 1 arrest for Furnishing Alcohol to Minors

El Paso, TX – El Paso County Sheriff Richard Wiles and Explorer Post 2005 hosted the 2nd Annual Golf Tournament to benefit Crime Stoppers of El Paso Thursday, June 23rd, 2016.

The tournament was held at Painted Dunes Desert Golf Course. During the awards ceremony; Sheriff Richard Wiles presented Crime Stoppers with a check in the amount of seven thousand five hundred dollars for the proceeds of the tournament. Sheriff Wiles also presented Crime Stoppers with a check for the mayor's monthly salary in the amount of two thousand five hundred dollars on behalf of Mayor Oscar Leeser and First Lady Lisa Leeser. The combined amount was a total of ten thousand dollars that will benefit Crime Stoppers of El Paso.

Sheriff Richard Wiles thanks the participants, sponsors, volunteers, and staff for all their help and support of the 2nd Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser.

Manuel Uranga age 69, of Las Cruces, New Mexico was last seen at University Medical Center located at 4850 Alameda on Thursday, June 23, 2016.

Mr. Uranga is 5’4” tall and weighs about 160 lbs. he was Last Seen Wearing: Clothing he is pictured in (Top Left).

Mr. Uranga suffers from dementia, heart problems, insomnia, depression, and anxiety.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mr. Uranga is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 915-546-2280 or 9-1-1.

The Sheriff’s Office Community Service Section made learning about safety fun with the help of the Sheriff’s Office safety mascots.

Children were able to implement the lesson on bike, general traffic & pedestrian safety, as they made their way through the simulated Sheriff’s Safety Town.

This annual event is used to provide the children with everyday safety facts and tips while introducing the children to the Sheriff’s Office in a fun and positive manner. This year we had over 25 children and this afternoon, the children were provided with a certificate of completion and a goody bag.

El Paso, TX – Sheriff Richard D. Wiles and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Foundation held a groundbreaking press conference for the El Paso County Law Enforcement Memorial Wall on Thursday, June 16th, 2016.

Sheriff Wiles introduced the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Foundation and the Memorial Wall Committee who are spearheading the project. We were honored to have the attendance of Sheriff’s Office staff and personnel, members of the community, the Sheriff’s Advisory Board, Mayor Oscar Leeser and the families of two of the fallen officers.

The El Paso County Law Enforcement Memorial unveiling ceremony is scheduled for the Sheriff’s Office “6th Annual National Night Out,” on August 2nd, 2016. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Foundation will be accepting donations. Those interested in providing donations can contact Larry Guerra, 915-667-1267 or Chris Acosta 915-538-2223 or 915-479-0797.

El Paso, TX – Sheriff Richard D. Wiles and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Foundation are constructing a memorial wall for the County Law Enforcement Officers who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.  Other law enforcement agencies have similar monuments to remember those who have passed. 

The El Paso County Memorial Wall will honor all fallen officers who have served the citizens of the El Paso County. The county law enforcement agencies to be included are:

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office

El Paso County Constables

San Elizario Police Department

Horizon City Police Department

Clint Police Department

Socorro Police Department

Anthony Police Department

The memorial will repurpose the wall currently on the southwest corner of Sheriff’s Office Headquarters building located at 3850 Justice Dr. It will feature seven granite panels engraved with the names of the 15 El Paso County Law Enforcement Officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice to serve their community.

Sheriff Wiles will also take this time to introduce the Sheriff’s Foundation and Memorial Wall Committee who have spearheaded the project. El Paso County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 13200 block of Fresnillo Dr. In San Elizario, Texas reference a structure fire at 2:30pm, on Sunday, June 12th, 2016.

Upon arrival, deputies observed the residence fully engulfed.

The San Elizario and Socorro Fire Departments responded and extinguished the fire.

The home is estimated as a total loss and the fire marshal determined the cause of the fire as accidental electrical.

One 19 year old male was transported to local area hospital with burns to his feet.

The Red Cross was requested to assist. The Grado family can be reached at 915-974-0423 for additional assistance. Children: boys ages 19,17,9&5, girl age 8 and mother 39, father 49.

No further information is available at this time.

El Paso, TX - From May 22, 2016, to June 5, 2016, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office participated in the “Click it or Ticket” operation. With funding provided by the Texas Department of Transportation, the Sheriff’s Office was able to put out additional deputies throughout the County of El Paso targeting drivers and passengers of vehicles not wearing their seatbelts. Deputies were also looking for children not wearing seatbelts or not properly secured in child safety seats. The results of the enforcement operation were as follows:

(222)     Adult seatbelt violations

(39)       Child seatbelt or safety seat violations

(15)      Hazardous violations encountered during enforcement (i.e. speeding, fail to yield right of way,  etc)

(103)   Non-hazardous violations encountered during enforcement (i.e. no drivers license, fail to maintain proof of financial responsibility, etc)

On Tuesday, May 31st, 2016, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office detention officers from the Downtown Detention Facility met 5th grad students from Gonzalo & Sofia Garcia Elementary School.

         Officers talked to students about the duties they conduct on a daily basis and answered questions.

Students and teachers were then given a tour of the Downtown Detention Facility.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Community Service Section will be hosting a community meeting for the Fabens residents on Wednesday, June 8th, 2016.

Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to the Community Service Section will meet with residents from the Fabens community to address any questions or concerns they may have.  Community members will be provided with information and resources to fix the issues and help their community prosper.

The meeting is open to ALL members of the community and our media partners, the meeting is from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. and will be held 1101 Yann Rd. Fabens, TX.
