El Paso, TX – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Pets Advancing Wellness and Success (PAWS) in Detention section will attend the Petco Mega-Adoptathon on Saturday, February 13th, 2016.

Detention Officer Lopez along with Canine Cadets “Rosie” and “Barry,” will showcase the PAWS vocational program to the public, by explaining its function and purpose.

Please join the PAWS in detention section on Saturday, February 13th, 2016, from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Petco Mega-Adoptathon at the Petco located at 2036 N. Zaragoza Rd. The canine cadets that are part of the PAWS vocational program can be adopted through the Animal Rescue League of El Paso.

El Paso, TX - El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to the Clint Patrol Station responded to an aggravated robbery on Wednesday, January 27th, 2016.

Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 200 block of G St. in Fabens, Texas at approximately 9:30 p.m. Upon arrival deputies were notified the clerk of the business had been robbed at gunpoint.

The identity of the male is still unknown; at the time of the robbery, he was wearing a bandana over his face.

El Paso, TX -El Paso County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 300 block of Fulbrook in San Elizario Texas at approximately 1:40 a.m. reference a structure fire.

Upon arrival, Sheriff's Office deputies observed a mobile home fully engulfed.

At the time of the fire, there were two occupants inside the residence; one male 51 years old and one female 18 years old. The occupants were transported to local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The 51-year-old male was transported by air to Lubbock for further treatment.

Fire Departments that responded: San Elizario,  Socorro, Clint & Horizon.

Fire officials state the fire started in the west end of the structure and Fire Marshal is conducting the investigation. It is being estimated that the mobile home is a total loss.

Red Cross was notified to further assist the family, the family can be reached at 915-355-3832.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

El Paso, TX – On Monday, January 25th, 2016, just before 5 a.m. the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to a four motor vehicle accident at I-10 eastbound near the Lomaland Dr.

While construction crews on I-10 east near the Lomaland Dr.exit were picking up traffic control barriers with Sheriff’s Office units assisting with traffic control.

A tractor-trailer traveling eastbound disregarded the patrol units with

activated lights and struck two Sheriff’s Office marked units and the construction crew vehicle.

Three construction workers and two deputies were transported to local area hospitals. One of the construction workers was transported with serious injuries.

Special Traffic Investigators were summoned to the scene and assumed the lead in the investigation.

At this time, it is being estimated that I-10 eastbound between Yarbrough Dr. and Lomaland Dr. will be closed for 4-5 hours.

No further information will be released at this time as this is an ongoing investigation.

El Paso, TX - On January 21, 2016, at about 7:44 pm, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single motor vehicle crash at the 1800 block of South Ascencion Dr. in El Paso County Texas.

Upon arrival, Sheriff’s Deputies discovered that a 2003 Ford Explorer had been traveling north on South Ascencion Dr. when the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The Explorer veered off the roadway and rolled over coming to rest inside a residential property.

The driver of the Explorer, Martin Macias 50 years of age, was ejected from the Explorer. The Explorer came to rest on top of Macias as a result of rolling over. Macias was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. An 8-year-old passenger in the Explorer did not sustain any injuries.

Special Traffic Investigators were summoned to the scene and assumed the lead in the investigation.

No further information will be released at this time as this is an ongoing investigation.

El Paso, TX - El Paso County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the intersection of Joe Battle Blvd. and Vista Del Sol Dr. reference a single vehicle roll over on Sunday, January 17th, 2016.

At approximately 9:45 a.m. a Chevrolet Avalanche was traveling north-bound on Joe Battle Blvd. when the driver tried to avoid a cat on the roadway. The driver lost control and causing the truck to rollover.

The driver of the vehicle was the only occupant and was transported to local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No further information is available.

El Paso, TX- During the holiday period of December 18, 2015, to January 3, 2016, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office made a total of (30) driving while intoxicated arrests.

The Sheriff’s Office utilized funding by the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) as part of their enhanced patrol targeting drunk drivers. Of the (30) arrests made by the Sheriff’s Office, (6) arrests were made under the TXDOT Impaired Driving Mobilization Grant and (7) arrests were made under the 2016 TXDOT STEP Comprehensive Grant.

Arrests made by the Sheriff’s Office during the reporting period are as follows:

- 12 arrests: Driving While Intoxicated

-10 arrests: Driving While Intoxicated Breath Alcohol Content .15 or higher

-4 arrests: Driving While Intoxicated 2nd Offense

-3 arrests: Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More

-1 arrest: Driving While Intoxicated w/Child under 15 years of age

30 Total

El Paso, TX - El Paso County Sheriff's Office deputies were Dispatched to 2700 block of Jobe Road in reference to a single vehicle rollover, just before 6 p.m. on Saturday, January 2nd, 2016.

A red F-150 traveling westbound on Jobe Rd. failed to maneuver a left-hand curve and drove over an embankment causing the truck to rollover.

Two passengers died on scene as a result of their injuries.

Three passengers were transported to local area hospital. Where one was pronounced dead. No other information regarding the passengers is available at this time.

Special Traffic Investigators, CID, and Crime Scene investigators responded.

Jobe Road is a private roadway, and not open to the public.

No further information is available at this time investigation continues.
