Running_light

El Paso, TX – Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at approximately 8:30 p.m., to 14241 Montana Ave. (El Torito Liquor Store) in reference to a robbery on Wednesday, May 27th, 2015.

Upon arrival deputies were advised that three males entered the store, assaulted the female clerk and stole several items from inside the store.

The offenders wore masks and gloves. The vehicle involved was a charcoal grey Colorado or Canyon pick-up truck with tinted windows. Anyone with any information in reference to this case is urged to contact the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office at (915) 546-2280.

El Paso, TX - PAWS Officer Alfredo Lopez along with Canine Cadets ‘Stetson’ and “Daphne” attended the “Adoption of Dog” at El Paso Saddle Blanket on Saturday May 23, 2015.

Officer Lopez distributed pamphlets and held a presentation for the public on the purpose of PAWS in the Detention program.

Officer Lopez also demonstrated the different types of trainings that are conducted with our Canine Cadets.

El Paso, TX ­ - The Emerald Subdivision with the assistance of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Community Service section have teamed up to create the “Emerald Neighborhood Watch Association.”

The “Emerald Neighborhood Watch Association,” (ENWA) will be hosting their next meeting on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Office Sparks Substation. The substation is located at 12899 Sparks Dr., El Paso, TX 79928; the meeting is open to the public.

The neighbors in this community have established a leadership committee and seven section coordinators. The association is focusing on the many issues in their community while identifying crime in their area and reporting it to area law enforcement.

El Paso, TX ­– “The Military Order of the World Wars,” awarded Detention Officer Antonio Munoz with the 2015 Humanitarian Award, and Ms. Loretta Hyde with the 2015 Volunteer of the Year award, on Saturday, May 23rd, 2015.

MOWW serves America’s youth by hosting Youth Leadership Conference (YLC) programs throughout the United States; the MOWW also formally honors those who excel in the national security, homeland security, and law and order arenas.

Officer Munoz was nominated by Sergeant Maria Santana.

Ms. Loretta Hyde was nominated by Lieutenant Michaela Hebeker.

“The Military Order of the World Wars,” presented various other First Responder Awards during their chapter luncheon.

RELEASE: MOBILE HOME FIRE LEAVES ONE FAMILY HOMELESS IN WEST EL PASO COUNTY.

Canutillo, TX – El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 7200 block of 2nd street in reference to a structure fire just after 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2015.

Upon arrival deputies discovered a mobile home fully engulfed. The fire began in the laundry room and deputies on scene attempted to extinguish the fire with fire extinguishers. Fire spread to a tree and neighboring mobile home. Fire crews from West Valley, Santa Teresa, La Union, and El Paso responded to the call. Crews were able to prevent major damage to neighboring home.

No injuries were reported.

The mobile home where the fire started was a total loss and the neighboring home suffered roof damage, the estimated value is $90,000. Neither of the homes had insurance, and the Red Cross was on scene to assist the family.

The cause of the fire is being ruled as accidental; due to electrical problems with the dryer unit in the home. No further information is available at this time.

El Paso, TX – El Paso County Sheriff’s Office BPO 15-01 class participated in the 2nd Annual Fallen Officer Memorial Run Saturday, May 23rd, 2015.

The run is held in memory of Officer Adrian Arellano and 29 other fallen heroes. The run started and ended at the El Paso Municipal Police Officers’ Memorial Hall, and took the participants through the streets of east El Paso.

The run brings together citizens, police officers, and members of different law enforcement branches throughout the city to honor fallen heroes. Way to go deputy cadets!

 

RELEASE – MOBILE HOME FIRE LEAVES 13 PEOPLE HOMELESS; & ONE FIRE OFFICIAL INJURED.

Fabens, TX- El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 200 southwest block of 1st in reference to a structure fire just after 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 24th, 2015.

Upon arrival deputies discover two mobile homes fully engulfed. The fire began at the rear of the first residence and spread to the neighboring mobile home. It took fire crews a little over an hour to extinguish the fire, the following fire departments responded; Clint, Fabens, San Elizario, Tornillo, and Socorro.

One injury was reported by deputies on scene; Fernando Martinez Fire Chief for Fabens Fire Department was injured while working to contain the fire, he was transported to local area hospital with minor injuries and was released the same day.

Both homes are a total loss and the estimated value is of $112,000. The Red Cross was on scene to assist the families.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation; no further information is available at this time.

“Don’t Gamble With Your LIFE,” Don’t Drink & Drive. Call 212-7777 for a FREE RIDE, 24 HOURS / 7 DAYS A WEEK.

In a joint effort to provide a safe alternative to driving under the influence the City of El Paso, Sun City Cab, Sun Metro, El Paso Police Department, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, El Paso Fire Department, L&F Distributors, and Out for Blood, present the community with the opportunity to catch a FREE ride with and arrive to their homes in a safe manner.

Sgt. Christopher Paz of the Traffic section was present at the press conference and reminded the community that the Sheriff’s Office has made changes and more units are out on the streets looking for those driving under the influence.

“Best bet is to use some of these resources out there, otherwise you are going to end up running into one of our black and whites.

El Paso, TX – El Paso County Sheriff Richard D. Wiles will award Andres Roman Arciniaga with an academic scholarship for the Spring 2015 Semester on behalf of the Sheriff’s Association of Texas.

Andres Roman Arciniaga of El Paso, TX is a majoring in Criminal Justice at Sterling College, in Sterling, Kansas.

Scholarship will be presented on Wednesday, May 27th, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters; 3850 Justice Dr.

The Sheriff’s Association of Texas offers scholarships to eligible students pursuing an academic degree at a college or university.

The Sheriff’s Office congratulates Andres and wishes him the best throughout the rest of his academic career.

            El Paso, TexasThe El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Community Services section hosted the first “Order on the Border Challenge,” on May 9th to benefit the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 2005.

             A multi-level cross-fit competition, “Order on the Border encouraged participants to bring their “A-game,” to the toughest fitness challenge of 2015.

            The event was held at CrossFit Convey, 12708 Montana Ave., 47 competitors participated in the challenge. Sgt. Elizabeth Barney of DPS, and EPCSO deputies Cesar Dominguez, Sergio Juarez, Daniel Dominguez, Andrew Morales, and Juan Ordonez took on the toughest fitness challenge of 2015.

            El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Community Service section thanks everyone who took on the challenge, and looks forward to the next, “Order on the Border.”
