On 02-05-14 at about 1:30am Sheriff’s Office Deputies from the Montana Station were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident (rollover) at the 12900 block of Montana Ave. When Deputies arrived, they found that a gold 2008 Toyota Camry had crashed and the female driver had been ejected. Deputies went to assist the driver and realized she did not have any signs of life. Sheriff’s Office Special Traffic Investigators (STI) were requested to investigate the accident.

Through their investigation, it was revealed that the female driver was traveling eastbound on Montana Ave. when vehicle veered to the right and went off the roadway. The vehicle went onto a dirt area and the female driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle crashed into a chain link fence, went airborne, and rolled over once. The female driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled. Speed and alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors to the accident. The driver was identified as 24 year old Annette Chavez of east El Paso. This is the first fatality of the year handled by the Sheriff’s Office.
