image      On 12/12/13 at shortly after 5:00 pm, a Sheriff’s Office Strike Team/Interdiction unit conducted a traffic stop at the 10200 block of Alameda Ave.  The Deputy had the driver step out of the vehicle. While the Deputy returned to his patrol car to run warrants checks, the driver fled on foot. Several Sheriff’s Office units and the Department of Public Safety Air Support helicopter assisted in the search, but the driver was not located. Back at traffic stop, Deputies found over 145 pounds of marijuana inside the vehicle.  The bundles were in several boxes wrapped in Christmas gift wrapping paper. 

Strike Team Deputies began an investigation to determine the whereabouts of the driver. After several follow ups and interviews were conducted, a felony arrest warrant and 2 misdemeanor arrest warrants were obtained for the driver identified as Gabriel Mendiola (24).

On 12/26/13 Deputies received information of a possible location for Mendiola.  Surveillance was set up in the 300 block of Melendez St, in SocorroTx.  Strike Team members saw Mendiola exit and re-enter a home. Strike Team members approached the home and were able to take Mendiola into custody without incident.  He was charged with Possession of Marijuana over 50 pounds under 2000 pounds/Bond $30,000,  Evading Detention/ Bond $5,000 and Fail to identify/Bond $5,000.

imageOn 12-27-13, Manhunt Monday Fugitive Carlos Medrano was captured by Sheriff’s Office Officials. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Warrants section received information of his whereabouts and made contact with Medrano by telephone. Medrano stated he was not in El Paso, but that was determined to be false. Medrano was, in fact, still in El Paso. Deputies from both the Warrants section and Montana Patrol Station monitored his whereabouts and after several days of working on his capture, he was taken into custody. Medrano was arrested for a Probation Violation for assault and several traffic warrants. Additional charges are pending for debit/credit card abuse.

He remains incarcerated at the El Paso County Jail. Medrano’s arrest marks over 165 captures out of 231 wanted fugitive profiled making it a 71% success capture rate.

All subjects were detained a short time later & were later charged with BURGLARY OF BUILDING. CALZADA has since failed to show for court & a Warrant of arrest has been re-issued for JOEL CALZADA. He currently remains at large and is believed to remain in the El Paso, Texas / Juarez, Mexico area.
  • Profile 2: EDUARDO SOUVERBIELLE is sought for Evading Authorities, On 11-22-2013 Deputies were looking for SOUVERBIELLE for outstanding SOUVERBIELLE, EDUARDOwarrants. Authorities attempted to located him at a residence in the 14900 of Doe Ln, El Paso County, Texas. Deputies spotted SOUVERBIELLE outside of a residence working on a vehicle. SOUVERBIELLE fled on foot after seeing Deputies. A search was conducted for him but he could not be located. Charges have been filed & he is now wanted for the Offense of EVADING ARREST / DETENTION. He currently remains at large and is believed to remain in the El Paso, Texas / Juarez, Mexico area.

    On 12/20/2013 at about 5:45pm, Deputies were dispatched to the 400 block of La Florida St. in Canutillo in reference to a hit and run that had just occurred. A witness to the crash followed a grey Mercedes Benz to La Florida St. and called the Sheriff’s Office. It was reported that the Mercedes Benz had struck several vehicles in the parking lot located at the 6800 block of Doniphan. When Deputies arrived, they made contact with the driver of the vehicle at his residence on La Florida and also located the Mercedes Benz (with damage). The driver failed the administered field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. At the Vinton Station the driver, identified as Christopher Ryan (48), was given a breath test. The test showed that Mr. Ryan had a breath alcohol concentration three times over the legal limit. He was later booked into the El Paso County Jail

Deputies saw the bulletin and recognized Raul Bustos (20). At around 10:30am, Deputies went to Bustos’ last known address and arrested him without incident.

    EL PASO TEXAS- The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting increased DWI enforcement for Christmas and New Years. There will be an additional 20 Deputies patrolling the streets of El Paso County in high risk locations during times when most alcohol related incidents occur. This increased DWI enforcement will begin December 24th and go through December 31st .

    Sun City Cab Co. and L&F Distributors are proactively seeking to prevent drunk driving during the holidays and offer a free cab ride as one option for individuals who might have had too much to drink.  Be responsible and prevent drunk driving by calling for a free cab ride.     EL PASO, TEXAS This week’s MANHUNT MONDAY Most Wanted Fugitive an individual who has used others Credit Cards for Personal Gain. The target has been identified as CARLOS MEDRANO of El Paso, TX.

    During multiple investigation dating back to 2011, CARLOS MEDRANO has used information from Credit Cards without the consent of the Card Owners to make various personal expenses. Purchases made by MEDRANO using the Credit Card information include furniture , vehicle tires, eating out at various restaurants, online purchases  & other miscellaneous expenses. One of the identified schemes MEDRANO uses to gain access to Victims information is calling by phone and claiming to work for an Organization or representative for a legitimate corporation and is able to convince his victims to provide their Credit Card #’s.

    Authorities are continuing to investigate several cases that may be linked to MEDRANO who is wanted for the Offenses of: CREDIT CARD ABUSE & an unrelated ASSAULT case.

       The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with EXA 98.3, have collected over 1,500 toys, to give to needy children in the Upper Valley area of El Paso County. DJs from EXA spent 98.3 hours in an enclosed utility trailer to collect as many toys as they could and were very successful.

        Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Detectives also helped make this Christmas extra special. Deputies and Detectives collaborated and went out of their way to purchase clothing and shoes for the children.

        On Saturday the 21st, the wrapped toys will be handed out to 63 Children from a Vinton Day Care center and 87 Children from 25 pre-selected families. The children from the 25 pre-selected families will also receive brand new clothes and brand new shoes.

        Sheriff’s Office personnel and members of EXA 98.3 will be at 1102 Westway Blvd. in Canutillo from 9:00am to 11:00am. There will also be food and drinks provided for all of the families.

    Sheriff’s Office Detention Officers form the Jail Annex conducted a “Christmas Angels” program to benefit children of El Paso County. Detention Officers received names of needy children from area schools and purchased the gifts themselves. The gifts were prepared to be delivered and Detention personnel even dressed up in Santa and Elf suits.

    The Detention Officers delivered the gifts to the Red Sands Head Start program, Montana Vista Head Start program, Sparks Head Start program, and Socorro Head Start program. A total of 289 children from the four schools received gifts.

    Several Detention Officers also purchased and delivered gifts to 31 Job Corps Headstart students. (Last year they gave coats). The “Christmas Angels” program has been running for over ten years now.

    Thanks to all who participated in this endeavor.  All of the children were very happy and that’s really what it’s all about.

    A subject wanted for Sexual Abuse of a Child was arrested on 12-15-13 by Sheriff’s Deputies. Deputies from the Clint Station had received information of a subject wanted for sexual abuse who was possibly in the San Elizario Area. The information was also passed on to U. S. Border Patrol Agents who joined in the search. At about 1:30pm, Border Patrol Agents spotted a vehicle with a subject inside that matched the description. A Deputy Sheriff caught up with the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Glorietta Rd. near Socorro Rd. in San Elizario Tx. The subject was positively identified as the one wanted for the criminal warrant and was arrested.

    On 12-14-13 at about 7:00am, a woman from the 18600 block of New Life Dr. in far west El Paso County, called the Sheriff’s Office complaining of a stranger that was asleep inside her vehicle. Deputies from the Clint Station arrived a short time later and found a man asleep inside. Deputies woke up the man and asked what he was doing inside the vehicle. The man attempted to jump over the seat and get away from the Deputies. Deputies had a short struggle with the man before placing him under arrest. He was identified as Jose Carlos Rodriguez and was charged with Burglary of Vehicle and Resisting Arrest Search or Transport.

    The El Paso County Sheriff's Office Strike Team arrested 9 people during a 2 day prostitution sting operation.   Strike Team members set up in area hotels and contacted various on line ads that advertised escort services.

    In all, nine people agreed to meet with undercover Deputies.  The meetings took place in hotel rooms and agreements would be made to exchange sexual acts for money. Strike Team members would then go in and make arrests.

    Assisting in the operation were members/agents of the Department of Homeland Security/ICE.

    On 12-09-13, Sheriff’s Office Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division arrested a man named Joeph Arroyos who was scamming people out of money with the use of his construction business named “Joes Construction”. Arroyos was accepting construction jobs and asking for money up front. He would then take the money and start a job but not finish it, or would take the money and not show up for the job at all.

    Detectives were able to locate and arrest Arroyos at the 1100 block of Chris Forbes St in Socorro Tx. He was later booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.

    Sheriff’s Office Animal Control retrieves a lost horse

    On December 9, 2013 at 09:05am a Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Officer was dispatched to the 15400 block of Buckwheat St, El Paso Couty Tx, in reference to a lose horse that was found by “Horses Unlimited Horse Rescue” owner Victoria Hall. Miss Hall stated that on Saturday around 2:30pm she corralled a lose horse that was seen wondering for days. Miss Hall put the horse on her property in a horse stall. The horse is a young brown Palomino stud 3 to 4 years of age with old scars on its body. Pictures were taken and can be viewed. The Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Unit is seeking assistance from the public with any information regarding this horse. The horse will be housed at Horses Unlimited Horse Rescue at 15415 Buckwheat St, in far east El Paso.

    EL PASO, TEXAS This week’s MANHUNT MONDAY Most Wanted Fugitive is the accomplice to last weeks Most Wanted Suspect OMAR DE LA FUENTE. Both men are wanted for Narcotics. The target this week is identified as CESAR EDUARDO IZAGUIRRE of El Paso, TX.

    As released last week - On Tuesday, October 22, 2013, Deputies conducted a traffic stop imageon a White Ford F-150 traveling east on Montana near Geronimo. Deputies made contact with the driver identified as OMAR DE LA FUENTE. While speaking to him, Deputies noticed the smell of Marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A search of the truck was conducted by K-9 which resulted in the discovery 117.5 pounds of marijuana wrapped in bundles. Authorities investigating the case have worked up arrest warrants on DE LA FUENTE (Driver) who remains on the run & are now looking for the passenger / accomplice CESAR EDUARDO IZAGUIRRE who also wanted on for the Offenses of: POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA OVER 50 POUNDS UNDER 2000 POUNDS. .
