EL PASO TEXAS- On 08-07-13, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Strike Team/Interdiction Unit conducted a traffic stop on Interstate Highway-10, Westbound at mile marker 23, El Paso County, Texas, on a white Chrysler 300 for a moving violation. 

During the roadside interview, the driver admitted to the Deputy that he had marijuana inside of the vehicle.  A Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit was summoned to the location in which the K-9 alerted to the odor of narcotics.  A subsequent search of the vehicle lead Deputies to over 90 bundles of marijuana, all together weighing over 100 pounds.  The driver, 41 year old Ruben Calderon Perez of Horizon City, was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana over 50 lbs.-under/2000 lbs. with a bond of $20,000.
