EL PASO TEXAS- On June 3, 2013 at approximately 4:30 PM, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident/rollover at Interstate Highway-10 MM 56 in Tornillo, TX.  The victim, 35 year old Victoria Ojeda, originally from Atlanta, was traveling eastbound on IH-10 when she lost control of the vehicle and rolled over several times.  At the time of the MVA, the victim was traveling with two dogs and only one was recovered.  The Ojeda family remains in hope of finding their second companion “Oscar” who was ejected from the vehicle and last seen run south into the desert area. 

“Oscar” is a short tale, Boston Terrier with short white/black & dark brown hair and had a light blue collar at the time.  The Ojeda family is seeking assistance from the community to help find him.

EL PASO TEXAS- The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office was in search for the owner(s) of a brown male Dachshund with a red collar found late afternoon on August 18, 2013.  Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Officers came across the Dachshund at the intersection of Krag St. and Montana Ave.  

Update: Sheriff’s Office Animal Control reported the Dachshund also known as “SLINKY” was picked up and reunited with its rightful owners early this morning.

El PASO TEXAS- The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Persons is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a WANTED SUBJECT.  The subject is 67 year old RAUL GAVALDON-ALDACO of the 400 block of Uxmal in San Elizario, TX.  GALVALDON is wanted for (1) count of AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT of a CHILD and (3) Counts of INDECENCY WITH A CHILD.  GAVALDON may have fled to Ciudad Juarez and was last seen driving a black Ford F-150 bearing TX Plates-47R-YJ7.  GALVALDO is 5’07”, weighs 170 lbs. and is said to have a large hernia on his right hip.

El PASO TEXAS- On 08-20-13 the Sheriff’s Office responded to a Burglary of Building at the 500 block of Emerald Dunes, Horizon, TX, where items were taken from a Custom Builder home.  Further investigation revealed the home was secured on 08/19/13 at 5:30 PM by the reporter. On 08/20/13 at 8:15 AM, the reporter discovered the home with its front door missing to include other items such cabinets, light fixture covers and other items.

EL PASO TEXAS- On 08-20-13 at approximately 8:00 PM  A Deputy patrolling the 15200 block of Kentwood, El Paso County, TX, encountered a male subject walking in the center of the roadway.  The subject continued to walk on the roadway despite the Deputy’s presence and the patrol unit’s activated emergency lights.  A check of the subject resulted in the arrest of 17 year old Steven Victor Rocha of the 800 block of Agua Nieve in Horizon, TX, for Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.  The weapon found on Rocha, a .22 caliber handgun, was loaded.

EL PASO TEXAS- On 08-20-13 at approximately 3:00 PM a Sheriff’s Deputy patrolling the desert area at the 13700 block of Nayarit, El Paso County, TX, spotted a green Nissan Sentra in the area and the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.  Further investigation resulted in a search of the vehicle where drug paraphernalia was evident along with marijuana inside a container.  Both male juveniles of the Horizon City area, one 16 and 15 year old, were charged with possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor.  The 16 year old juvenile was also charged with two other misdemeanor offenses for possession of “Spice” and a prohibited weapon/brass knuckles.

EL PASO TEXAS-A Sheriff’s Deputy arrested Driver/Arthur De La Rosa during a traffic stop at the 8000 block of S. Desert Blvd., El Paso County, TX, after De La Rosa was seen get struck by a white passenger car and then fled the scene. The Deputy was assisting a nearby motorist when he saw De La Rosa flee.  It was determined De La Rosa was intoxicated at the time of the accident. The driver of the passenger car had also fled and De La Rosa was subsequently booked.

EL PASO TEXAS- Driver/Alfredo Silerio was arrested after Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a Chevy S-10 that was swerving in & out of traffic and failing to signal during lane changes on IH-10 MM2.  An intoxilyzer test showed Silerio was intoxicated three times over the legal limit.

EL PASO TEXAS- Driver/Ruben Gonzalez was arrested after seen by a Sheriff’s Deputy disregard a stop sign at an intersection in the Montana Vista area.   Further investigation indicated Gonzalez was intoxicated two times over the legal limit.

EL PASO TEXAS- Driver/Merced Herrera was spotted by a Sheriff’s Deputy driving without a motor vehicle inspection sticker at the 7900 block of DeAlva/Westway area.  A traffic stop of the vehicle revealed Herrera was driving under the influence of alcohol with a previous DWI conviction.

image EL PASO TEXAS- On 08-18-13 at approximately 4:30 AM Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 12100 block of Socorro Rd., San Elizario, TX, in reference to an assault.  Upon arrival, Deputies discovered a 41 year old female was struck by a vehicle/Van driven by a male subject who fled the scene after assaulting the victim and her daughter who arrived to help. 

The subject first struck the daughter’s vehicle then the victim’s vehicle, pinning the victim between her vehicle and a chain link fence.  The subject then fled the scene in a different vehicle, a black Pontiac Grand Prix, unknown registration, possibly headed to Mexico.  Further investigation revealed an argument ensued between the female victim and male subject prior to the alleged incidents.  The female victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and refused transport to the hospital.  Shortly after, Deputies confirmed through the Sheriff’s Office Communications Section the subject was seen cross into Mexico.  An additional vehicle was reported to be damaged from the same incident at the same location.  The investigation continues with charges pending.

EL PASO TEXAS- Beginning on August 10, 2013, Inmate visitation for the El Paso Downtown Detention Facility, located at 601 E. Overland, was postponed for the next two weeks due to maintenance work. 

Maintenance work was predicated to be completed with inmate visitation to resume normal after August 17, 2013.  After meeting with contract workers, maintenance is expected to continue through the week and into the weekend resulting in the cancellation of this weekend’s inmate visitation.    

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  Updated information in regards to amended visitation hours and additional cancellation information, based on the facilities progress, will also be posted on the El Paso County Sheriff’s Website and at the El Paso County Detention Facility. EL PASO TEXAS- On Friday, 08-16-13 members of the U.S. Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested FUGITIVE/CARLOS BARRERA.  Barrera was on the run for 21 years and wanted out of Cook County, Illinois, for a Possession of a Controlled Substance/cocaine offense and Possession of a fire arm during the commission of a felony back in 1991.  Barrera fled to Mexico and recently returned to the U.S. in attempt to change his immigration status.  A check of Barrera’s fingerprints returned Barrera was a “Wanted Subject”.  Barrera was later apprehended at his residence by members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force at the 13000 block of Enrique Gomez, El Paso, TX.

The U.S. Lone Star Fugitive Task Force also apprehended FUGITIVE/JORGE VALDEZ. Valdez surrendered to members of the Task Force at approximately 2:00 PM on Friday, 08-16-13 at the Paso Del Norte Bridge.  Valdez was featured on Manhunt Monday on 08-27-2012 and was one of Crime Stoppers of El Paso Most Wanted for July & August  2012.  Valdez was arrested on numerous felony charges;  Aggravated Robbery, Burglary of Habitation with Intent to Commit other Felony, (2) Burglary of Habitation, Unauthorized Absence from Community Correctional Facility, an Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle) to include (4) misdemeanor charges of; Evading Arrest, Burglary of a Vehicle, Criminal Trespass and Theft of Prop>=$50<$500.  Valdez had failed to show for court and had eluded authorities on foot in the commission of other incident(s) and is now in custody.

EL PASO, TX- On 08-18-13 at approximately 2:00 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies patrolling the Upper-Valley were dispatched to Westway and N. Desert Blvd., El Paso County Texas, in reference to a possible drunk driver.  Upon arrival, Deputies met with witnesses who reportedly followed the drunk driver to the said intersection where Deputies found driver/Ricardo Arellano asleep at the wheel.  Arellano was placed under arrest  for DWI.  Deputies also received information Arellano was allegedly involved in a hit and run earlier reported to the El Paso Police Department.

Hernandez, after Hernandez ended up at the same intersection and was recognized by the same witnesses to be the same person seen earlier stumble out of a vehicle and then drive off.  Further investigation revealed driver/Hernandez’ Breath Alcohol Concentration was three times over the legal limit.

    EL PASO, TEXAS This week’s MANHUNT MONDAY Most Wanted Fugitive is an individual wanted for Cocaine Possession. The target is identified as AUGUSTIN JORDAN of El Paso, TX.

    Law Enforcement Officials are asking the community for assistance in locating AUGUSTIN JORDAN.

    On Thursday, July 11, 2013, the El Paso County Sheriff`s Office attempted to stop a gold Chevrolet Impala near the intersection of N. Zaragoza and Rich Beem for conducting an improper turn.  The driver of the vehicle later identified as AUGUSTIN JORDAN failed to stop & continued to drive at a high rate of speed in the nearby residential area in an attempt to evade Sheriff’s Deputies. JORDAN was finally stopped at 13900 block of Tierra Vela Ln.  After observing drug paraphernalia and white powdery substance on the arm rest of the middle console, a vehicle search was conducted resulting in the discovery of 33.5 grams of cocaine concealed in a black plastic glove and two clear plastic baggies.

     AUGUSTIN JORDAN was released pending further investigation and has since absconded authorities. He is wanted for the criminal offense of POSSESSION OF COCAINE >4G <200G – $40K BOND.

    JORDAN is known to frequent the Montana Vista area and his known associates with street level and prison gang members. Information received indicates he may be working as a landscaper in El Paso’s Westside. He knows authorities are looking for him and remains on the run eluding capture.

    EL PASO, TX-The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office through a Texas Department of Transportation grant will be enhancing patrol efforts to crack down on DWI drivers this Labor Day Holiday.  Officers will be vigilant for DWI violators and violation of any other traffic offenses.  The goal is to reduce the number of fatal or serious injury collisions where accidents are most likely to occur.

    The  DWI Labor Day Enforcement will begin August 17, 2013 thru September 2, 2013 throughout El Paso County, TX.

    The Sheriff’s Office reminds citizens El Paso County is part of the “No Refusal” program.  Be responsible Don’t Drink and Drive.

    The El Paso County Sheriff’s Traffic Section has investigated a total of (7) Traffic Fatalities in El Paso County Texas this year.  Out of the (7), one fatality was alcohol related.

    imageif you plan to consume alcohol this Labor Day Holiday.  According to TXDOT statistics 411 alcohol related fatalities occurred in Texas during the 2012 summer months of May through August.  In addition, during the Labor Day holiday reporting period, alcohol-related traffic fatalities more than doubled from eight in 2011 to 19 in 2013 ( http://www.txdot.gov/inside-txdot/media-room/news/statewide/035-2013.html ).
