EL PASO TEXAS- Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Fabian Lechuga after Deputies were dispatched to Emerald Sands and Eastlake Blvd., El Paso County Texas, in reference to a motor vehicle accident.  Lechuga, the driver of a Chevrolet Camaro allegedly failed to control speed and struck a pick-up truck traveling on Eastlake Blvd. Further investigation revealed Lechuga was intoxicated three times the legal limit.  No parties were transported for injuries.

EL PASO TEXAS- Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Jose Antonio Herrera after a white Ford Windstar exiting at the 1700 block of Zaragosa was seen failing to yield the right of Way to on-coming traffic and almost striking the Deputy’s Patrol Unit.  A traffic stop of the said vehicle resulted in Herrera’s arrest for DWI.  Herrera refused to provide the Deputy with a breath sample.  Herrera was transported for a blood draw at the County Jail and was subsequently booked.

EL PASO TEXAS- Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Raymundo Martinez after a Honda Accord was seen changing lanes and failing to signal lane during lane changes at the 13200 block of Gateway West Blvd., El Paso County Texas.  A traffic stop lead to Martinez’ arrest for driving under the suspicion of alcohol.

EL PASO TEXAS-  Early this morning, the U.S. Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested 45 year old Christopher Giles early this morning at the 11300 block of James Watt, El Paso County, TX.  GILES was arrested at his place of employment on (8) felony FORGERY charges.  GILES of the 7300 block of Alameda Ave., El Paso, TX, was one of El Paso’s Most Wanted fugitives out of the El Paso Police Department.  GILES has been arrested and convicted on other various felony offenses.

EL PASO TEXAS-  On 08-29-13, eighteen year old Adrian Garcia was taken into custody at his San Elizario, TX, residence and charged with the Murder of fifteen year old Alejandra Arango.

On 08-05-13 Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the home of fifteen year old Alejandra Arango in reference to an Unattended Death. Sheriff’s Deputies, upon their arrival, discovered Alejandra’s body inside her San Elizario, TX. home.  The Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Persons Unit was called to the scene.  Through the course of the investigation it was determined that her ex-boyfriend Adrian Garcia was responsible for her Murder.  Garcia is charged with Murder and is being held in the El Paso County Detention facility under a $250,000.00 bond.

EL PASO TEXAS- The Sheriff’s Office reminds the community  visitation make-up sessions for all floors will begin today, August 30, 2013 (see below for dates/times).  On August 10, 2013, Inmate visitation for the El Paso Downtown Detention Facility, located at 601 E. Overland, was postponed for the next the two weeks due to maintenance work. 

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.  For questions, please contact 915-546-2228.  We will continue to inform the public should any cancellations or changes occur based on the facilities progress.

EL PASO TEXAS- The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, Sun City Cab Co. and L&F Distributors are on the wagon to prevent drunk driving during the holidays (Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and New Years) by becoming part of the ALERT CAB PROGRAM.  Because Labor Day is one of the many holiday’s celebrated by people throughout the year the ALERT CAB PROGRAM will be one of several options for individuals who choose to celebrate and had too much to drink.  Be responsible and prevent drunk driving by calling for a free cab ride.  The program will take effect during the Labor Day weekend – Friday, August 30, 2013 from 12:00 noon through Monday, September 2, 2013 to 12:00 AM.

According to the National Highway Safety Administration drunk driving fatalities in Texas have declined up to 50% since 1982 with 138 people killed in drunk driving crashes in 2011.  The Sheriff’s Office reminds citizens the DWI Labor Day Enforcement has been in effect since August 17, 2013 and will remain in effect through September 2, 2013.

Sheriff’s Office Special Traffic Investigators have investigated a total of 7 fatalities in El Paso County, TX. Out of the 7, one was alcohol related.

imageEL PASO TEXAS- On 08-26-13 just a few hours after being featured on Manhunt Monday, Wanted Fugitive David Navarro surrendered to authorities.  He was wanted for two violent incidents against an ex-girlfriend.  He was booked into the Detention Facility  on charges of Aggravated Kidnapping & Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and remains incarcerated at the County Jail. 

 

Navarro’s arrest marks over 160 captures out of 221 wanted fugitives profiled (73% success capture rate).

EL PASO TEXAS- On 08-26-13 a Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling the Montana Vista area when he saw a silver pick-up truck traveling northbound on O’Shea Dr., El Paso County, TX, and noticed a 2012 Motor Vehicle Inspection Sticker affixed on the windshield.  The Deputy saw the inspection sticker was outdated and displayed a “3” to read an expiration of 2013.  A traffic stop of the vehicle resulted in the arrest of driver/Antonio Miranda for displaying a Fictitious or Counterfeit Inspection Certificate.

EL PASO TEXAS- Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Leonor Cordero after Deputies were flagged down at the intersection of Sam Snead and Lee Trevino, El Paso County, TX, in reference to a motor vehicle accident.  It was determined Cordero was traveling on Lee Trevino when she made a wide turn and stuck another vehicle.  Further investigation revealed Cordero was driving while intoxicated over the legal limit.

EL PASO TEXAS-Driver/Ramon Sepulveda was arrested during a traffic stop at the 4500 block of N. Mesa after a Deputy spotted the driver of a grey pick-up truck fail to signal a lane change and swerve on the roadway.  Further investigation revealed Sepulveda was wanted for a Criminal Warrant/DWI 3rd or more with a $100,000.00 Bond.  The Deputy also detected Sepulveda was driving under the influence at the time of the traffic stop and was charged with DWI 3rd or More-and a bond of $5,000.

Racing On Highway

EL PASO TEXAS-Driver/Jesus Sepulveda was arrested for DWI and Racing on a Highway after seen traveling at a high rate of speed along side a light colored passenger car at Montwood Dr. and Joe Battle South, El Paso County, TX.  According to witnesses, a black Honda was seen collide into another vehicle when the Honda spun out. The Deputy spotted the Honda shortly after a the 9400 block of Alameda where it was determined Sepulveda was intoxicated and stated he was involved in an accident.

EL PASO TEXAS- On 08-25-13 at approximately 11:50 PM Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 15600 block of Montana Ave., Red Sands area, in reference to a large fight with information that a subject was possibly stabbed. 

Two male victims, 19 & 20 years of age, were transported to a local area hospital with head and facial injuries as a result of the assault.  The Crime, Records and Evidence/Forensic section was summoned to the scene.  The conditions of the victims are unknown at this time.  No weapons were recovered in the area.  According to witnesses, the fight allegedly began inside the Red Sands and continued at the entrance on Montana Ave.  No arrests have been made.  The investigation continues.

EL PASO TEXAS-On 08-25-13 at approximately 6:30 PM Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 40 year old Gustavo Soltero for Resisting Arrest Search/Transportation and Fail to Identity after Soltero became uncooperative while being investigated for allegedly assaulting a male juvenile.  Deputies were initially dispatched to the 200 block of Fortaleza, El Paso County Texas, in reference to Subjects Disturbing and made contact with the subject(s) at the 300 block of Caracol.  As Soltero was being escorted to the patrol unit Soltero used the back of his head to assault the Deputy.  Soltero was additionally charged with Assault on a Public Servant.

DAVID PAUL NAVARRO & VICTOR HUGO OLIVAS

NAVARRO, DAVID PAUL

  • Profile 1: DAVID PAUL NAVARRO is sought for serious Felony Offenses. In April 2013, NAVARRO took his ex-girlfriend against her will at knife point from the Cincinnati Party District and transported her to Sunland Park, NM where he violently assaulted the victim releasing her several hours later. In July 2013,  NAVARRO again threatened the same victim while wielding a knife at the same Cincinnati Party District area. Charges have been filed against NAVARRO for both incidents. He is wanted on charges of: AGGRAVATED KIDNAPPING & AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON.
  • Profile 2: VICTOR HUGO OLIVAS is sought for the serious crime – SEXUAL ABUSE OF A OLIVAS, VICTOR HUGOCHILD (Victim under 14 YEARS OF AGE). A recent case handled by Sheriff’s Office Sex Crime Detectives revealed a 15 year-old female Victim had been sexually assaulted by OLIVAS for about 5 years (since the Victim was 10 or 11 years old). A recent outcry initiated the investigation which resulted in charges against OLIVAS. He currently remains at large and is believed to remain in the El Paso, Texas / Juarez, Mexico area.

    EL PASO TEXAS- On 08-23-13 a Sheriff’s Deputy engaged in a short pursuit after a white Dodge Neon was seen traveling at a high rate of speed southbound at the 13300 block of Horizon Blvd., El Paso County, TX, and refused to stop.  The vehicle continued at a high rate of speed passing an emergency vehicle where it nearly collided with a patrol unit who was on a traffic stop at Ashford & Horizon Blvd.  The pursuit was terminated due to the vehicle’s exceeded speed. The description relayed by the Deputy resulted in the apprehension of the driver moments later during a traffic stop by a DPS trooper who spotted the Dodge Neon near Gateway West Blvd. & Eastlake.  The driver/Jose Alcala was turned over to Sheriff’s Officials and charged with Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle.

    The EPCSO reminds citizens to be cautious when approaching a stationary authorized emergency vehicle or tow truck on the roadway/highway. 

    It is a violation to Pass Authorized Emergency Vehicles (TRANSPORATION CODE Sec. 545.157 ) when the driver fails to vacate to the lane closest to the emergency vehicle or tow truck when driving on a highway with two or more lanes when traveling in the direction of the vehicle; OR fails to slow down to a speed of;

    • 20 mph less than the posted speed limit when the speed limit is 25 mph or more
    • 5 mph when the posted speed limit is less than 25 mph

    A violation of TC Sec. 545.157 is punishable by a fine not less than $1 or more than $200. A  fine of $500 if the violation results in property damage; A Class “B” misdemeanor if the violation results in bodily injury.

    “We Serve With Pride”

    EL PASO TEXAS- On 08-21-13 at approximately 8:10 PM, the Sheriff’s Office Strike Team/Interdiction Unit set up surveillance at a residence at the 3600 block of La Luz in El Paso County, TX, in reference to narcotics activity.

    During the course of the investigation, a male subject was seen depart from the residence in a vehicle.  The subject was then seen by Sheriff’s Deputies commit a moving violation resulting in a traffic stop at the 1500 block of Paisano Dr.  Upon contact with the subject/driver, Sheriff’s Deputies noticed the subject appeared nervous.  Further investigation lead to the seizure of 126.7 grams of heroin after a K-9 Unit was summoned to the location and alerted positive for narcotics.  The driver was identified as Gabriel Aldana who was subsequently booked into the Detention Facility for Possession of heroin.
