TWO ARRESTED DURING TRAFFIC STOP IN MONTANA VISTA

EL PASO TEXAS- On 07-04-13 at approximately 5:50 PM, two subjects were arrested in the Montana Vista area after a Sheriff’s Deputy spotted a 1995 white Ford Crown Victoria traveling eastbound on Montana Ave. with an expired registration sticker and cutting off other vehicles. During the traffic stop of the said vehicle, the Deputy detected the odor of what appeared to be burnt marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle.
Further investigation revealed the driver/Ruth Carrillo reportedly claimed owner ship of a clear plastic baggie containing marijuana after it was found on the ground by the vehicle’s front right tire where front passenger/Javier Mendez exited the vehicle and stood with his dog/pit-bull. The passenger had told the Deputy his dog needed to urinate at the time the marijuana was recovered by the Deputy. Both were booked into the county jail for Possession of Marijuana under 2 oz.
