El PASO, TEXAS-On 08/09/12, at approximately 1:25 PM, Sheriff’s Patrol units were dispatched to 1540 Paseo Del Convento, San Elizario, TX, in reference to a possible residential fire. Deputies arrived to discover a shed at the rear of the residence engulfed in flames. The home owner, the sole occupant of the residence, met Deputies after escaping the fire before it spread to other parts of the two-story home. Volunteer Firefighters from San Elizario, Socorro, Clint, Fabens, Horizon and Montana Vista fire departments collaboratively contained the tenacious fire taking extra precautions as an unknown amount of ammunition was stored on the property making the scene unsafe. Sheriff’s Deputies also took precautions for individuals in the surrounding area and provided crowd control. Once the fire was contained, Fire crews remained on scene extinguishing hot spots. No injuries or additional property damages were reported on scene. The homeowner estimated a property loss of $200,000. The homeowner is insured. A Fire Marshal was summoned to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
