UPDATE:FATAL MVA INVOLVING A PEDESTRIAN

NEWS RELEASE

El PASO, TEXAS- UPDATE:  On 08/04/12 at approximately 11:20 PM, Sheriffs Deputies were dispatched to Interstate Highway-10, MM37 (eastbound), in reference to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival Deputies saw a Caucasian male on the dirt median between IH-10 and Gateway Blvd. east with no signs of life. The driver of a white 2011 Freightliner, tractor-trailer (Road Master) combination was identified on scene as a 50 year old male from Griffin, GA. The semi-truck was traveling eastbound on the outer lane of IH-10 at the time the pedestrian/Victim, identified as 53 year old Sacho Jizkov of Elwood Park, Illinois, attempted to cross from the south to north portion of the roadway and was struck by the semi-truck.

The accident occurred west of Horizon Blvd. and Gateway Blvd. East. Deputies and  D.P.S. units closed IH-10 eastbound and diverted motorists onto Gateway Blvd. East for approximately 5 1/2 hours. TXDOT was also on scene. The victim was pronounced dead on scene by the medical examiner’s office. Speed and alcohol are not associated with this fatality. No charges on the driver are pending at this time.

The next of kin was notified. The victim/Sacho Jizkov was a truck driver with a family oriented business of CARRIER ONE TRANSPORTATION out of Illinois.
