EL PASO, TX-The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Section in coordination with The Texas Department of Transportation conducted a DWI Labor Day Enforcement Wave throughout El Paso County, TX during the period of August 19th, thru September 6th, 2011, making it the 4th DWI-wave. During that time period, extra officers were utilized to focus on DWI patrols within high risk locations. Our goal, was to reduce the number of fatal or serious injury collisions during times when alcohol-related crashes are most frequent.
Deputies worked a total of 338 enforcement hours during this Labor Day Holiday working various shifts in search of DWI drivers while enforcing other traffic violations. This year, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office/Special Traffic Investigators have investigated a total of (7) fatalities in El Paso County in which three were alcohol related.
