DEPUTIES ARREST 2 FOR ENGAGING IN ORGANIZED CRIMINAL ACTIVITY

NEWS RELEASE

EL PASO, TX- Monday evening, on 09-05-11 at approximately 10:45 PM, Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to the 1200 block of Westway Blvd., El Paso County, TX in reference to an Aggravated Robbery in progress. The victim stated he parked his vehicle in front of a residence to speak to one of the subjects, possible ex-girlfriend, when he was assaulted by multiple subjects while inside his vehicle. The victim said two of subjects then drove off in his vehicle, a 1999 dark Blue Nissan Sentra, while other subjects departed in another vehicle. 

Two vehicles were spotted by a Sheriff’s Deputy traveling at a high rate of speed on De Alva Dr. and a traffic stop of the trailing vehicle, a dark blue Nissan Sentra, was conducted by the Deputy at the intersection of Nashua Rd. and N. Desert Blvd.  

The second vehicle, a 1999 black Honda Accord, also traveling at a high rate of speed, came to a stop at the 7900 block of N. Desert with the occupants exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot. Deputies conducted a sweep of the area but to no avail. Both vehicles were impounded.

The driver of the 1999 dark Blue Nissan Sentra was identified as SONIA REZA (possible ex-girlfriend) and the male passenger as OSCAR TARANGO, both were taken into custody and positively identified by the victim. REZA and TARANGO are both from Canutillo, TX.  

The scene was processed by the EPCSO Crime Scene Unit(CREFS). The investigation continues by the Sheriff’s Office/Crimes Against Persons.
