“BARRICADED SUBJECT” RESULTS IN PEACEFUL RESOLUTION

imageSOCORRO, TX – On 08-21-2011 at approximately 3:30 pm Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to assist Socorro Police Department (S.P.D.) in reference to a “barricaded subject”. 

Sheriff Deputies were briefed by S.P.D. a traffic stop was conducted on subject/driver/Victor Grijalva with information received the subject/driver was wanted on an out-of-county warrant for Possession of Marijuana u/2 oz, a Probation Violation/TCIC hit. Upon making contact with the driver, the driver fled in his vehicle.

A short vehicle pursuit ensued and ended at a residence at 10928 North Loop where the subject fled from the vehicle to an unknown location on/along the property.  A perimeter was set up by additional S.P.D, S.O. and D.P.S units with additional information that the subject barricaded himself inside the residence.

Officers received information that weapons were inside the home. Several attempts were made to establish communication with subject/Victor Grijalva but to no avail. Sheriff’s SWAT & Crisis Negotiators were requested and the scene was turned over to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. Life Ambulance was also standing by on scene.

imageThe Crisis Negotiation Team commenced face-to-face negotiations with the subject, where shortly after, subject/Victor Grijalva surrendered to Sheriff’s S.W.A.T. peacefully. 

The subject was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility by Socorro Police Department.
